Always kept it in the cupboard. I can't stand sauces, jams, and various condiments cluttering the fridge - they're eaten long before they'd ever go off at room temperature anyway.

Mayonnaise is apt to go off in the cupboard. Ketchup will never go off in the cupboard.

The quantities of sugar and vinegar in there make it very inhospitable.

Like I said, I've known ketchup kept in the cupboard for 30 years and have never heard of it going off.
