Why would I do that ? Your basically saying if I disable features designed to make it smooth it won't be smooth ?
Not sure I see the point. I have no interest in fps as long as it is smooth which it is.
Sounds like you need a G-Sync monitor...
The Xbox One does a pretty decent job and remains smooth considering its lowly spec and AMD based graphics I imagine it's bad optimisation that's causing PC issues...
Why should we buy expensive monitors just to get 1 game to run smooth?
I have countless games on my PC that run smooth 90% of the time i.e. 50-60 fps with a frame latency always below 20ms, anything higher and the game isn't enjoyable for me, <15ms frame latency and it is buttery smooth.
Being obsessed with having pure smoothness in everything I watch/play even to the point of having to use the "hated" smooth frame interpolation on my TV to get rid of the micro stutter in films.... I would love to get a g/free sync monitor but I am not going to lock myself to one GPU vendor especially for just 1 game.... besides there are no sensibly priced good 34" 1440 100HZ screens....
Well the game was designed primarily to run on consoles and they use lowering settings @ lower res. with lower FPS plus their own methods for a low frame latency and certain tricks to hide stutter i.e. motion blur, also iirc the Xbox version had async. shaders enabled unlike the PC version.
And yes that is what I am getting at, the game certainly seems to run great for lots of people but there also seems to be a rather large minority who are having performance and stability issues. I don't think anyone can deny that the game could do with some more optimisation, even the developers themselves have said that they are working on more patches to improve the game.
I've already uninstalled the game and can't be bothered to reinstall but I was getting around 38-45 fps in those areas with everything maxed at 1440p on an oc'd GTX970 in those areas and didn't notice any stutters or poor frametimes. I could comfortably play and it felt smooth enough. It probably was sub-40 or around 40 (of course there were a lot of scenes where the game was staying closer to 45-50 and above) most of the time but that was to be expected when running maxed at 1440p with graphics of such calibre.
EDIT: That's without G-sync or other trickery
Fair enough if you can play at those frames and not notice any stutter etc. Personally I can't, 45/48 is the absolute lowest I can go.
The game runs flawlessly on the very linear parts and tombs but anywhere remotely open on my PC and the fps just varies between 30's and 50's regardless of settings.
This is with everything on low/off and my max fps was 55, not exactly "good" in my eyes when the likes of assassins creed syndicate can get the same FPS (and more consistently hold that) yet have WAY more going on in terms of an open game world + pretty good graphics
I've not long passed the Geo level and didn't notice anything off with performance in either that or the Soviet section.
I'm not running an fps counter (Windows version of the game won't display AB osd) and cba to check afterburner logs or anything unless I notice something dodgy when playing.
If it did do any funny business, it wasn't apparent.
Yeah there are some who do seem to have no issues at all.
Saying that, as above, what might be smooth for one person won't be for another.
