Tomb Raider

Been playing a few hours now, it's awesome. Clearly inspired by Uncharted, but not to the point of feeling like a rip-off or clone by any means. In fact, I'd be surprised if Uncharted 4 doesn't take some ideas from TR, the large environments are great fun to explore although that looks like something The Last Of Us will have too. Very polished, graphics are superb, sound is excellent, great use of dialogue too (like being able to speak to other characters to get more info about things). Only thing I'm still not entirely convinced by is Lara's voice actor, it just doesn't seem to quite fit, not helped by Lara being quite physically expressionless compared to say, Nathan Drake or Elena in Uncharted.

Those little niggles aside, it's a superb game.

When you start again does Lara have all her skills levelled up?

You get to "continue" so you have a free roam of the map to get all the bits you missed when doing the main play through. Lara keeps all her skills and you can continue to add to those skills, I had to do that as was 2 things missing from maxing out all the weapon upgrades.

You can also do any of the optional tombs that you may have missed but I did them as I was going.

While I have no doubt this has plenty of replayabilty I'm taking my time with this only spending an hour or so on it a day (only a short way on from picking up your first gun in the game) still love it though, probably the best game I've played since Uncharted 3 :)

Finished it last night with 88% completion. Great game that I didn't want to put down, fingers crossed for another!

True. But Uncharted took that idea and made it a hundred times better whilst TR kind of lost its way. Good to see it back on track though with this latest game.

Exactly, to be honest I think its obvious that is what thevoice meant. Its not hard to see Tombraider was the first...Tombraiding game of its kind. But uncharted took what was done with tomb raider and made it epic. While tomb raider had become stale, and kind of pants.

With this reboot, which is most definitely heavily influenced by a lot of what uncharted did. I'd say they've found their way again.

Very good game!

So far aesthetics and set pieces are very very similar.

I have to say I'm disapointed in the new tombraider game anyways, I know a lot like it, but it feels its turned into an all out shooting fest =\ And the violence!? Yeah I get there used to be some nasty death scenes, traps, etc. but since when is lara croft a brutal slayer of people!?

I've just finished the main story at 75% completion. According to Steam, I've played 13.5 hours. I never used the instinct mode, as I wanted to find my own way and usually it was pretty obvious where I needed to go.

Overall I quite liked it, it definatly goes on my list of "recently played good games" list, and not on the "boring old stuff that comes out year after year after year almost exactly the same" list.

The quick time events were not too bad. I thought there was a lot at the start and it did annoy me then, but there isn't massive amounts of them throughout the rest of the game.

I might play over the weekend just to find all the items that are lying about. I need to buy the weapon upgrades too.

Edit: Oops, I just realised I posted this in the console games thread, I played the PC version but it's all the same!

Completed it myself tonight, 70% completion. Really enjoyed it, one of the best games I've played in a while.

Mulitplayer not so much, feels slow and clunky.

What influences from uncharted do you see?

The large set-pieces, the cinematic presentation etc, it bears more resemblance to Uncharted than Uncharted does to any previous Tomb Raider game. And that's no bad thing at all, they've taken some inspiration of Uncharted and put their own spin on things instead of just copying the formula entirely and the result is an awesome game.

Brought this yesterday, installed and then played 3 hours straight, loving it.

Love the story/action mix and the general cinematic feel :)

What a brilliant game, loved it to pieces and hopefully they'll release some more stuff to explore in the coming months. The MP is frustrating and a waste of time IMHO, such a shame really because the main game is worlds apart in termsof quality!

Yeah the multi-player is not very good, I've only been playing it to try and get some of the achievements. The single player is where it's at for this game!

I think my save file just became corrupt. Loaded it fine just now at the second part of the shantytown, then quit to the menu and loaded it again because I did something I didn't want to, and it's evidently lost all my progress with weapons, upgrades, collectibles etc and set me back to 11% completion.

I'm stuck now, I can't be bothered starting again and I certainly feel no motivation to continue. :(
