Tommy Emmanuel

Oh my lord... John Knowles was there?! Holy **** is all I can say and I will give Tommy my left nut if John Knowles is there when I see him.

You don't think that might come across as being a little bit weird do you? I'm sure he'd be quite happy with you buying him a drink after the show or purchasing some merchandise, just a suggestion. :p

I don't know much about guitarists but he's certainly a hell of a player though.

Hmmm.. I hadn't really looked at it like that, I suppose you do have a point. :p

Rick Price was the support I believe, he is very good but not really my sort of thing.

My mate bought his CD and we had a nice relaxing drive home.
He has got a cracking voice.

For about 30 mins there were two young girls standing directly behind me who didn't stop talking and texting.
I eventually had enough and said "I can't believe you actually got tickets to talk all through a Tommy Emmanuel concert".
One of the girls said "We've hardly said anything" and about 10 blokes then tore into them until they left.

I like his cover of Salt water.

Tune

Kind of gutted I missed him in my quiet crappy little town a few years back now - I will bet my life on it that he'll never be back there again.

Well, I'm now sans a left nut, but oh boy was it worth it! When John came out my face was :eek:ing for the whole lot, then when John left, it returned to the default Tommy look of ...

Awesome show, absolutely awesome.

I wondered where you got to :)

Did Tommy & Rick do 3 60's tunes together?
If I walked in a pub and saw 2 blokes do that I would turn round and walk out (since I did it for years) but watching them 2 do it was awesome.

Last night I gigged in a pub in Macclesfield and asked if any of the 100+ crowd had heard of Tommy Emmanuel - none of them :(
Several did jot his name down after I preached from the stage.

Yeah, they did do the tunes together at the end. Everyone went wild at the end and he had a standing ovation from a thousand people, yet he didn't do an encore. :( Got to meet him before the show again though, which was pretty awesome. Apparently he had to nip over to Israel today, but he's coming back to the UK later on to enjoy a month off. :p Well deserved tbh, but it was such an amazing show.

Yeah, well sort of. He does a piece called Initiation which is him recreating the atmosphere of an aboriginal ceremony with his guitar/white man's thunder stick. It's not just the didg, he makes lots of strange and wonderful sounds with his guitar, lots of gain and lots of delay.

You can't post videos of Tommy and Phil without posting the best one...

Phil is good, but Tommy has been, and will always be, better. :p
