Tomorrow - A level result thread

Got my AS results today
As in all my subjects so I am chuffed to bits!
This year I did biology, chemistry and history AS. Finished an A2 in maths and got an AS (near enough) in further maths.

Just wondering what those in my position are planning to do with regards to unis and courses and applications. As my results were good enough, I'm looking to do philosophy, politics and economics (PPE), hopefully at Oxford, but I'm under no illusions as to how tough it is to be successful in applying there. Other places I'm considering are York, Warwick, Durham, LSE, Edinburgh and St Andrews. Although not all of these offer all 3 disiplines. Does anyone have experience of the places or similar courses?

Congratulations to those who've been successful today!

Ive been given a provisional offer to do Sport & Exercise Science at Aber, they said they would let me think about it and I just have to get back to them to make it offical. :)

I got my results last week, though my place was confirmed today at Southampton uni. I'm doing mechanical engineering with a foundation year because I don't have maths :(

anyone else going to Southampton?

Bringing some drama to the thread.

Totally failed my A levels today.

Was a straight A student at GCSE as well. It's all fallen apart.

I don't care myself but my dad is gutted to say the least...he was expecting me to to cambridge.

blame the computer!

I got enough points to be accepted onto Computing - Systems & Networking at Leeds but have landed myself a full time job as an Analyst just over a month ago so I'm in no rush to go to Uni.

Well done everyone who successfully managed to get into their chosen Uni :)

Just wanted to say congratulations to you all

I am extremely jealous for all those heading to University, you're all going to love it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Congrats again, I'll drink to you all tomorrow night :p

My mate didn't get what he needed. Needed BBB and got BBC (this is SQA Highers by the way). Anyway they wouldn't take him

How does he do clearing? - I'm asking on his behalf as he is in India at the moment!

Cheers.

Look on UCAS website, that will tell him what he need to do to the offers / confirm he is going through clearing.

He gets sent a Clearing Passport which he needs to send of to what ever Uni he decides to go. He will need to contact them himself and enquire about the course he wants to go on and they will tell him if they will accept him with his grades and what not.

Calls from India may be expensive though, lol.

Doesn't he have an insurance choice?

Philosophy of Science? A waste of academic ability :/

I disagree. The general public doesn't have a clue about how science works. And it should also be taught more within purely scientific degrees.

Having said that, if his offer was something like 3 C's then it's unlikely to be a decent course anyway.:p
