Tomorrow - A level result thread

Does he get the Clearing Passport automatically or does he need to change something on Track to say he is doing clearing?

That's what I needed to know re: him phoning unis himself though, thanks.

He's back on the 27th, I'm guessing that is bordering on too late? He won't be able to get his Clearing Passport number. Sucks to be him right now! ;)

Takes a couple of days to get the passport and a clearing number.

When he rings up the unis they will ask for the clearing number. Well 2 or the 3 i contacted today wanted it.

Clearing closes 12th September I think.

He will need his application number aswell.

I disagree. The general public doesn't have a clue about how science works. And it should also be taught more within purely scientific degrees.

Having said that, if his offer was something like 3 C's then it's unlikely to be a decent course anyway.:p

Oh I understand the philosophy side of things should be taught, but for someone who get those grades to study it is a waste of talent!

So ****ed off right now, these are my grades:
Physics-UUU
Biology-EEU
Chem-EUU
Maths C1 and M1-U

I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS HAPPENS?!?!
I am a naturally clever person, mocks I didn't revise until the day before and got Ds and Cs in most, For these I revised 2 months before, got a physics tutor, studied my arse off. And it is a bit odd that everyone who I know and around me, even ppl who got A-B in mocks got nearly identical to me in chem and Bio:confused:

These exam boards are ****ing me off, gonna get a remark, maybe get the paper sent to my home, something is wrong here..

Sometimes it can be too little too late. I studied fairly hard for my A levels but ended up doing shockingly bad, I was expecting far better grades.

Congrats all. Can understand some of you being a bit disappointed, doesn't everything happen for a reason!? One day it will become clear... thats my hippy talk for the evening.

Maths - A
Computing - A
Further Maths - B
Physics - B

disappointed with the B in physics, probs sound like a **** to people with lower grades, but when you know you can do better its still disappointing, and needed it for Warwick offer (Maths & Physics). Not had my offer declined yet tho so still hoping they might accept. If not im off to York! Woo

Not sure why I'm reading this thread, maybe boredom but I do have a few words. :D
First off,
Well done to everyone who passed and got the places they wanted. Party like there's no tomorrow now then. :D

To those that didn't, I wouldn't worry too much, life will have you on your feet in no time if you have the balls to take it on.
Not getting into uni isn't the end of the world, although it may seem like that at the mo.

I remember being stood in a phone box on a drizzly wet evening, calling home from a holiday camp in Padstow and getting my grandparents to open the letter..
It went something like DDEECEE or whatever (it was a while ago now;) ). How **** did I feel.. (and embarrassed )

I think I'm doing all right for myself now though and I'm not quite as thick as the grades made me out to be.
I've never really known what direction to head in, what career path to take, all I know is I am doing what I'm good at..
Would love to be young again though "sniff, sniff"

That was all. :D

Congrats everyone, this thread is bringing me back memories... Although i've finished my a levels and a 4 year degree course.

Although I would like to add that you'll find life goes by a lot quicker now...my 4 years at uni just flew by....

In my AS levels

B - Business Studies
C - Economics
D - Maths
E - Critical Thinking
U - Computing

Nice Spread Eh ;).Business might go up to an A as paper two is being remarked (no one in the school got higher than a C, some got A,D,A on the 3 modules).

Hoped for 1 grade better in Maths and Economics, meh, Resits

Last one is shameful considering what type of forum this is. Pity they don't focus more on Hardware. Speaking of which my LEA is running summer courses in building computers. Heh. Hoping to study Economics at Surrey which has 3 B requirement. I have like, 120 UCAS points so far. Needing 300. MADNESS

Smart *Bum* of a girlfriend got 2A 2B wanting to do fashion at Leicester

Well done to those that passed, and even those who tried but couldn't get what they wanted.

Education isn't always easy, I've seen it from all angles and my only advice is stick with it for as long as you can. Getting into Uni - ANY uni - is worth it simply for the experience of meeting lifelong friends and developing yourself as a person.

I didn't get into my first two choices for university, yet I have a well paid job and a comfortable life. Just make sure you never set your expectations too high in life for anything, and you'll always be happy :)

I managed an ABB a couple of years back with little effort purely because the teaching during school hours was so damn good. A lot of my year managed to get very high grades with very little work put in outside of lessons. It's a shame not all schools are at the same standard, a lot more kids would get into uni or get the grades they deserve!

Very true. Some people (predominantly those in state schools like myself) have the issue of being forced into tertiary colleges because their school doesn't have a 6th form, and often the colleges are populated by people who are there simply to take up 'funding slots' on the college's database.

In other cases, people suffer from larger class sizes or simply tutors that don't care enough or have the knowledge to push students in the right direction.

I know how you feel, happened to me, you feel like a right prat explaining how you are disappointed to someone that only just managed to get a D. Add me on MSN if you end up going to York.

I was lucky enough to have my grandad paying for my 6th form tuition, which resulted in having classes no bigger than 12 students (!).

Congratulations to everyone!
My dad has always said "No matter how much you might suck at something, if you gave it your best shot then be proud!".
Hmm, sounds better in Danish actually :p.
