Tony Stewart HITS and kills Sprint Car Driver

Total accident, his view was blocked by the other car in front. It's at night and the guy was dressed in black. I'm sure he had tunnel vision due to racing also...

Bizarre, can they not exit over the barriers like in most race formulas.

Also to me, seems Stewart Aptos him to late and that's why the back end kicks out. Over very bizarre and tragic.

Is there safety in that formula, normally so lax.

I'm not so so sure, the guy has previous and is a known hot head on the track, he accelerates just before impact as well. Guilty!

I didn't see any acceleration. There's not enough footage on the video to conclude that he had increased speed on the way round. What appears on the video is him at a constant rolling speed. And as for hot head... Tony Stewart isn't the one that got out of a wrecked car and walked into the path of other racers on the track.

Tragic, also could have been very easily avoided if he hadnt been so stupid, Maybe i'm just too used to the safety of F1 but that just seemed retarded to walk back in to the middle of the track especially in those conditions.
he looked seriously ****** off, I wonder if he expected him to stop so he could confront him, surely staying in the car until red flag or something would have been the safest option, those roll cages on the sprint cars look like they could take some serious impacts, does anyone know the regulations for this formula?
Definitely didnt look deliberate to me, at least not from that angle, but either way hes gonna be stuck with that for the rest of his life, poor guy.

Seems that people at the track, are saying he was actively approaching Stewart and shouting.

According to onlookers Ward was spun out of the race by Stewart and was hit by the three-time Nascar champion as he passed the spot on his next lap.

'It happened in Turn 2,' Adam Dulski told USA Today.

'The prior lap, Tony had gotten into him – just spun him, nothing big, just spun him around. The caution came out. He hopped out of the car – the driver of the 13 [Kevin Ward] ... he hopped out to go and yell and point a finger at Tony, typical thing.'

Really? If so, who the hell runs this formula, that allows drivers to enter the track shouting and pointing and how didn't they see this would happen sooner or later.

Yeah the video of it shows him get out of the car, head in the middle of the track whilst pointing and just generally remonstrating at Stewart's car as he approaches round the corner. Hard to say, but it doesn't point Stewart in a good light if he did see him.

Fellow racer Tyler Graves told The Sporting News: "Tony pinched him into the frontstretch wall, a racing thing. The right rear tire went down, he spun on the exit of (Turn) 2. They threw the caution and everything was toned down. Kevin got out of his car. ... He was throwing his arms up all over the place at Tony for most of the corner.

"I know Tony could see him. I know how you can see out of these cars. When Tony got close to him, he hit the throttle. When you hit a throttle on a sprint car, the car sets sideways. It set sideways, the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards."
