Too cool?

it is entirely possible to get the computer colder than the room. This is because the fans can move a lot of air causing it to feel colder.

Sorry, I must disagree with this - moving air makes it colder ? And what is your cooling source ? It is NOT possible, to have your PC / CPU colder than ambient with air or (unchilled) water.

i think the core sensors are faulty because look at the asus AI suite reading. it says 29c for idle which is the overall cpu temp read. the core temp should be higher than the overall cpu temp

I think a CPU can go below ambient due to something called Wind Chill Factor :D

If this is not correct someone please let me know!

Wind chill factor doesn't affect electronics.. In fact it only affects people who don't have a windproof layer on.

However I was going to suggest wind chill as a problem, for the OP. Maybe his room is so cold the slight movement of the air is causing windchill, hence why the computer was making him colder.:p

The room is fairly big, but nice and cool. Would it be a good idea to use the Asus AI Suite for temps reference then rather than coretemp etc?

Personally i would'nt worry about idle temps, they are highley inaccurate on all cpu's, due to the way they are taken. Load temps are abit more accurate, but not 100%

What's the difference between a person who doesn't have a windproof layer on and a Heatsink that doesn't have a windproof layer on? . . . neither of them are electronics?

But one has vapour permeable skin and hair to 'trap' heat next to skin as a thermal buffer.
It's this buffer being blown away and latent heat of evaporation that gives wind chill.

Edit: The 'buffer' effect - or laminar flow - can have an effect on heatsinks (especially passive ones) but it increase temp of component (buffer is insulant)
But you need an evaporator/condencer to get below ambient.

I am in a cold room (windows aren't double glazed) and here are my current temps (with CPU fan AC Freezer Pro 7 on full)

I find that crazy! Normally my Q6600 idles at 30 ish c and thats with Smart fan on!
