Too early for Xmas Decorations isn't it?

Far too early yet. Will put mine up around 12/13th Dec and take them down around 3rd Jan. My folks will leave them up longer though, taking them down on 12th Jan (they only do this in their current house as they live in a town where they celebrate the old Scottish New Year so the decorations stay up until after that). In fact I may just go through to celebrate with them this time, nothing like going out in the freezing cold following someone who is carrying the burning Clavie all round the village and then finally watching a whole hill set alight. Then back to the party for something warming to eat and plenty of alcohol to keep up your spirits :)

I ask because my girlfriend's grandma, auntie and cousins have already got their decorations up. Madness isn't it? I got brought up with the notion of putting them up about 2 weeks before!

So I assume that the two sides if your family have yet to meet? Christmas is a great time!

my neighbour puts hers up 1st of December because it's the date her mother died, which is quite nice (er... sort of :/)

but I prefer 2/3 weeks before, hate taking them down.

My family always put them up on the 8th of december, but only because that is my sisters birthday and she always asked to put them up on her birthday, just became tradition after that

Respects.

I only noticed the date the other day, I did a double take thinking about it. 23rd of November already!?

It doesn't feel that late in the year yet, too early for Christmas surely! I bet my parents have decorations up already though.

A nativety scene went up in a neighbours bay window a few days back, huge display it is, sheep, wise men, dangly star, the lot.

personally I love Christmas, but I hate the commercialisation of it and I hate seeing stores Xmas up during October ffs.

What really ****es me off is Birmingham City Council, bunch of spineless bas****s. They don't have Christmas, there signs all read "happy Winterval"

just wtf is a "winterval"
