Top Gear Is Back!!

Yeah LOL that Vectra was SHOCKING!!!

How can a car actually handle that bad??? Surely it couldn't be much worse if they tried.

He had full lock and it was going straight

In all honesty I thought this episode was a bit PAP. Its becoming more chat and jokes than actual car testing. I'd honestly say Fifth Gear is becoming the better programme because they actually do test cars and spend a lot more of the shows time reviewing/previewing cars. Wheras Top Gear seems more interested in just messing about and been a comedy which is all fine but I'd trade that instantly for them to spend more time actually testing cars.

The only good thing about tonights episode I found was really the ST220, Mazda6 and VXR group test. Though Top Gear saying the VXR is quicker than an M5 is just absolutely ludricous. Why can't they tell the true story that the only point where its actually faster is its top speed due to it not having a limiter but remember to mention the fact that an M5 will get to 155mph by the time it takes the Vectra to reach approx 120mph no doubt.

Don't get me wrong I love the show but sometimes I just wish they'd review more cars. :)
 
Thought it was a bit pap too, the caravan piece was like watching an episode of Last of the Summer Wine :/

I'm all for the comedy elements in TG as it makes it what it is, but this series has been way too full of it so far. No enough proper car material.

Wash your mouth out, the other day fifth gear put old ladies, in the back of a car, and drove round an oval. This was a 'feature'.

Although I admit, this wasn't the best episode ever, it's still better than fith gear.
 
I thought it was great. I don't know much about cars other than the basics but I still like learning about new cars. Top gear for me is perfect because it lets me some some big boy toys in action with some car talk and figures I understand, at the same time as being a really entertaining show.

Other car shows, as mentioned above, are good to watch just for the cars, but are just less entertaining. If they're talking more technical than 0-60 and BHP then it gets hard for me to follow.

As long as TG can hold this balance, I think it will be a great show for many more series.

I was laughing my heart out at tonights episode. Even though the caravan but was a set up, they still do some crazy stuff.

as mr average.. top gear appeals to me.

Well I missed the very begining of the show but thought the show was pap.

Mazda v Ford v Vauxhall was good
but then it went down hill after that, then 15 mins before the end I thought they might put on some nice show, but instead they went back to the caravan trash, I feel like writing to TG asking for my 15 mins back.

Fifth gear > Top Gear

As for the reasonable priced car, cant they find something a bit more exciting?
 
I like all the details ect BHP ect but mixed in with abit of comedy.

Top Gear wins hands down just because of Jeremy Clarkson.

think thats kinda the whole idea.

show did have its funny moments, but overall was poop, just sooo obviously set up.
shame used to be an ace show, but this series has been pretty lame :(
 
Yeah most of it was set up tonight.

Can anyone tell me the name of the piratey tune playing on tonights top gear episode. Think it was when they were at the garage
 
Boring.

Carvan = only entertaining when he smashed it into a pole. Rest of it unexciting, overstaged and plainly just not of any good at all.

F1 car inside = He was right, they should have binned it.

Star in a moderatly priced car = Jeez, could they find anyone less interesting?

3 Car shootout = Actually quite good. Very, very bad editing for the 'race' though which made it completely illegible as to what was actually going on.

I found it pretty dire.

Haha yeah. That's not JUST the reason for watching it for me, but ONE of the reasons. I think he's great.

If he ever left the show, it would never be the same.

It was racing on plastic tiles, I bet it was in danger of ripping them up.

The test car is allready 118bhp which qualifies it as 'normal'. 20 years ago that was 'performance'. They'd probably have to put in a roll cage for insurance reasons if they gave them any more power, which defies the whole point of a normal test car
 
Show was awesome. Started off a bit too serious for me with the old tests...

but the Caravan...

pure entertainment!
 
i'm sorry i found it boring presumably they will get better..

I think they need to get a bit more serious...
