Price new: £26k

2003/03 2.5 TDI Quattro Sport now: Approx £15.5k.

Noticeably more, infact, than the so called depreciation disaster Mondeo ;)

You don't happen to know how the 3.0 V6 Ghia X etc compare to the ST220 on depreciation?

But what about if you carry on. My rate of depriciation has slowed down. What would the Mondeo be like ?

Nowhere near as bad as it would have been at new? You still need £5k for a mint W plate ST200 - thats a previous generation car thats now over 6 years old. How much is a W plate A4? Similar money, despite costing more new.

Fair enough. :)

I know that but they are all GM. Opel/VX should be looking at other cars in their other companies.

And then doing what? The Monaro has ALWAYS been RWD - as have all large Australian cars of its type. The Vectra is an FWD car - to make it RWD and to do it properly would require a complete re-design of the car at great cost, and perhaps, compromise.

For what? So the performance model didn't suck? More than 80% of Vectras (And Mondeos) sold in this country are sold to fleets. Fleet managers dont care which car handles the best. Redesigning the Vectra for RWD would be expensive and pointless.

Yea, much worse. It's only really the ST Mondeos which buck the residual trend.

So really I guess its worth paying the extra £1500 for the ST220. How does the 2.2 ST hold, thats only £16k aswell?

Currently, very well. From £16.5k new yet despite being launched over 2 years ago you won't be finding used ones for much less than £13k.

Don't know how long this will continue though - ST TDCi appears to now be a VERY common choice for company car drivers - when the first ex-lease 3 year old examples begin to flood the markets, expect residuals to head South...

Double - Captain of Her Heart.

thanks but not the one. It was the bit he was on about snaking :) , just reached to the back of my mind and picked out brandy - afrodisiac

hmm i prefer the instrumental I think. Nice beat

I enjoyed it.. caravan was ott.. but EVERYONE!! knew they were going to kill the thing some how... its like the law when clarkson is around :p

I think the problem is at the moment.. they need some new high class motors to be released. They dont have much else they can get to take around the track.. They will be after the veyron.. that goes without saying.. but it could well be a hard task.. as bugatti aint gonna want there car.. which is the most powerful production car on sale.. to go around the TG track and not be top.. (its gonna be hard to beat that ccx with TG wing)

Well thats what i think lol..

It will pick up soon im sure :D.. they just need more material to work with surely

The f1 test shows this.. most pointless thing ive seen.. even if the f1 car made a silly speed.. it would have still been pap.

Still.. PURE ENTERTAINMENT!!! and i wait all week for it :D

Thought it was a poor one at the beginning, but the caravan bit had me absolutely wetting myself, that was hilarious, he crashed into that post, reversed over someones awning, then they set the caravan a had, was brilliant when he was just throwing things that were on fire out of the windows, and one landed on that awning which went up to, i bet whoever owned that wasnt happy, and when they ran in the bushes when the police turned up. :D

I forgot about the running in the bushes when the police turned up.. brilliant explanation of what happened "we were embarassed so ran in the bushes"...

The only thing i slightly disliked about the show was that Clarkson said that the Vauxhall was faster than a BMW M5, and with limiter he is right, but the E60 can reach 200 MPH unrestricted which is its true top speed IMO... now im going to have to explain limited cars to people and they wont understand.. all im going to get is "why would someone restrict a car"

But the M5s true top speed is 155mph, because it has a limiter. As far as I was aware, you can't buy one new without the 155 restriction.

Besides, the M5 is orders of magnitude faster for getting round corners... :)

of course they are restricted. i think its a marketing ploy from Vaux because they know that the majority of the higher end competitors are all restricted to 155mph and for waving exercise the new vectra can go faster - frankly i believe its more important as to how you get there - but nm.

also tw i agree the ST Mondeo do hold their value well - when i was looking last year a W ST24 was £3700+ round my way, and T & V's were creeping above 3k for a good one also.

i didnt see any ST200's anywhere near sub £5k mark.

why where they comparing a 1.8 BMW 3 series with those 3.0 ST's tools if they want a fair comparison use the 330 it would kill all of those cars

They compared cars costing the same price. The 330i was some £8000 more.

Although they did use an E46, which was quite odd. Also the 318 hasn't been a 1.8 for years.
