Top Gear Is Back!!

Rant over.
Almost all of us here see Top Gear as an entertainment programme, which just so happens to involve cars.

I know of no other car-based show that my girlfriend's entire family will sit down and watch (mum, dad, and 15 year old sister) - as none of them are interested in reviews of the latest Ford, BMW or Kia.

Instead, they sit down to watch 3 blokes pratt about in cars for an hour, create lots of smoke and noise, and do and say some funny things - staged or not - they don't care.

We all know that Top Gear isn't particularly factual, but that's not why we watch it. Fifth Gear is factual, and none of us watch it because it's a pile of poop.

I suggest you take your ranting elsewhere, because no one here is listening to what you're saying.

Talk about trying to get himself out of the doo doo
To be fair if I was about to be dragged through the courts I wouldn't be saying to every reporter that asks- "yeah, my bad" as it would put a bit of a spanner in the works of my defence.

im after some of the music that was used, there was a site that listed each track used in each of the clips but i cant seem to find it, anyone know what it may be?

Pendulum - Fasten Your Seatbelt was used on the advert for the show.

The first episode was ok, would have preferred another car review to the long road laying clip (though Clarkson's "morale is low, clearly another speech is in order" did get me laughing)

If I want to know if a Boxster drives better than a SLK I'll watch 5th Gear, if I want to watch a entertainment show involving cars I'll watch Top Gear.

Just been reading that top gear managed to get 1.3million more viewers than the BB final on C4

Which is why my girlfriend, her best (female) friend and many of her other female friends all love TG.

Finally got to see this tonight and loved it! :)

The road laying was great, when Clarkson through May's chips under the steam roller and said "that's 1 all" i was in stitches :D

Great program!

Sorry, but I can't watch Fifth Gear. I'm allergic to muppetry, and thus my doctor has banned me from watching Tim Lovejoy attempt to present a motoring programme.

Sorry mate, but 5th gear is crap. There's a reason it's on 5 you know ;)

I'm not 100% sure whether it's worse than the debarcle that is 'Vroom Vroom', but it's a close run thing.

anyone know what the name of the music used for when there having the safety meeting when doing the road?
I think you mean Fight Club from the Dust Brothers (sometimes called What is Fight Club) as there are several versions.

imo the crash wasnt anyones fault, its just one of them things, had a blowout and there was nothing he could do, live and learn,

can you really blame him for having that final go? i cant cus i would have been the biggest buzz ever

I can't help feeling that the car pulling to the right, as he noted during his first run & rectified by applying a fair amount of left-hand turn on the steering wheel is significant & down to more than just the crosswind he pointed out at the start of the film. In my opinion the tyre was suspect from the beginning & if nothing else having to turn into the crosswind at 300mph+ was putting excessive wear & tear on it causing it to fail prematurely.

Strikes me like other people have said that the owner was just trying to cover his own back, but the whole outfit looked a bit ameturish to me - did they check the tyres thoroughly after each run?

Thats the way i see it all aswell :)

Infact the first footage they showed, was where i expected him to crash.

Especially where you could hear him saying " Its pulling to the right, i can feel it pulling to the right "

Here is what I think about it after having seen it and recorded it on DVD and watching a few times more.
- I believe that they should not have ran the car with such windspeeds.
- As said before that extra strain on the tyre due to the wind was too much.
- The tyres looked worn from the beginning.
- There was nothing Hamster could have done in the time between the blowout and the crash, perhaps if there was less wind the car would have stayed on the tarmac much longer slowing down but without steering there was no chance he could have kept the car on the tarmac.
- While I understand he wanted to take the last run, I don't think I would have done it seeing how much he had to steer to keep the car in a straight line.
