Top Gear Season 14

Milked the electric car thing too much I think, got boring towards the end.

Shame they didn't take it a bit more serious, it went the same way as the Avantime they "tuned", they made decisions based on what would be most funny on TV not based on which would work best, they could have atleast put some effort in with geoff.

I can't see that this is really a motoring program anymore, it's just light entertainment (without questioning what constitutes entertainment) with a bit of car porn thrown in to keep people happy.

Perhaps my inner car geek and engineer is expecting a little too much out of the program, the biggest shame is with a little more effort they could make stuff that actually works but is still funny.

it was pretty terrible - the guy from the New Moon film is unlikely to be ever heard from again (totally forgettable in every single way) at least he should make a small mint from the film (having a steller opening weekend in the US)
- and the time he did around the track must have been totally invented given how he was driving

I was noting the birds in the background more than what was being said - but damn some where looking moody hahaha

Electric car was pure drivel, and went on too long (how rediculously stupid where the road worthy tests) - good idea but cmopletely ruined

It does seem to be light entertainment these days more than a car show which is a huge disappointment

'New' Top Gear has been like that for a long while?

Indeed, it's been that way since the new format started. That isn't the problem, the problem is that it's hardly even entertaining these days.
Did they seriously expect us to believe it was an accident that Geoff went into a tree?

I did enjoy tonights episode, was cracking up at some of the electric car moments especially the crash test part. .

What I found so annoying are these builds/challenges are getting less and less thought out. Before at least one of their inventions would turn out well. Now it's deliberate make it shockingly bad, rather than make something halve decent.

Got to agree with this. Also it seems more like they don't even do any of the work themselves. I'm sure it used to show them actually building their projects a few seasons ago? Now it just looks as if they turn up for an hour to be filmed hammering some random item and pretending to cut themselves etc.

When it started out with the TVR chassis i thought it was going to be a good challenge.

Thought it was a funny good episode. Skipped the star as I always do unless its a real person of interest to me. Certainly not a totally classic episode but a good laugh and good entertainment.

I really don't care that they didn't review the new Polo. I agree it's not quite as good as 2/3 years ago but still bloody brilliant compared with anything else on and for real reviews and car info I buy Autocar and Auto Express everyweek for the luls.

Obviously things like the car rolling down the hill are faked and look a bit silly. The one thing I thought was when we first saw what the car looked like and James and Richard were suppose to be seeing it for the first time it was obvious they had seen it all before and had loads of time to think what to say etc.... I use to love it when they turned up with cars and totally ripped it out of each other and laughed and it was their real first reactions to things.
