Top Gear Season 14

Honestly, they can't win. This was one of the most 'petrolhead' episodes of TG for a while. Even the caravan feature was pretty much all about the Lambo, with a bit of TG sillyness thrown in. The Lancia stuff, particularly the first film, was fantastic. It was what the moaners have been saying there isn't enough of, yet people are still saying 'OMG CRAP LOL'

There's just no pleasing some people.

EDIT: 10k posts :D

Indeed, this was an episode for proper petrolheads who know about cars, i really enjoyed it, its exactly what i want to watch.

Agreed. Wish they had shown a bit more of the lambo though and seen it round the track (or did they do it?).

Much to my horror there's something I liked about Evans - his cars! :o

They'll probably do it later in the series, wouldn't be the first time they've featured a car but left the review for another episode.

That would have been a good episode had it not been blatantly scripted from start to finish, at least it was interesting.

Please get over the fact that television is scripted. Its how it works. You can't make an hour long program without a script, it doesn't work.

OMG CHILDREN IN NEED WAS SO SCRIPTED

Scripted is fine. Obvious and predictable isn't. An example was Clarkson taking the door off Hammond's Marina, it was so obviously going to happen the second he left it open.

Sure, predictable. But, isn't life just like that? With my close group of friends there are things that, day in day out, year in year out, decade in... decade out... that we still do exactly the same. The same insults, the same stupid pranks that we pull on each other over and over again. We have learnt to execute them with military precision, yet they remain funny every time. Funnier every time because we know it's happened 200 times before, yet it happened again and here we are, laughing at it again. Laughing harder than ever before.

And that's fine but some people's sense of humour doesn't work like that. To me the shock and surprise of something unexpected is a big part of what makes it funny, if I can see it coming then it generally doesn't even raise a smile. One of the funniest moments of top gear for me was on the US trip when when you got the shot of Clarkson approaching with the cow on top of his car because it just came out of nowhere.

Hmmm... I do wonder if the owner has actually seen the show before if they were surprised at that?

The point is, if you are going to feature your car then there is a good chance that they will ridicule it. The show is set up to be entertaining. It was a factual car programme many years ago and about three people watched it, now it has millions of viewers...

Anyway, in all honesty I didn't rate the episode bar the first Lancia feature but despite that it was the most entertaining thing on TV all week. I must admit that my favourite episodes are the challenges where they have a very small budget to buy a car for a range of challenges. These always seem to lead to the real memorable episodes for me.

Of the current seried the first episode has been my pick so far by a mile.

For me it's the trips. Vietnam, Africa, America, north pole.

i was really hoping they were going to unveil some new lancia, it wasnt to be :(
