Top Gear Season 14

From what I can see, they removed most of the broken rear diff internals from the Landcruiser and ran it in 2WD. But yes, I expect the support crew would have been carrying a good level of spares, you'd have to or the whole thing just wouldn't be viable.

i reckon that white landcruiser that passed clarkson on death road was a support vehicle

Yeah, that was a bit weird, even when Clarksons vehicle had gone half way past that vehicle, it still didn't drive on, which would have made it easier. But epic episode none the less.

Just watched it and thought it was a brilliant episode. Could sort of see a TG spin off if they decide to quit the proper show. I know loads of people do travelling stuff but the TG guys and cars make it so much better than some bird watcher.

Do you not think though that the vehicle going past Clarkson on the death road could easily have gone past about half way through the scene, allowing him to get back. And they managed to set up a camera underneath the road?

Anyone know what route they took? I found death road and la Paz. What was the route over that volcano? and didn't they say pan american highway, which appears to be route 35?

Camera under what road?

It was clearly zoomed in from further down the road.

I think my problem with TG is the fact I am tired of Hammond, May and Clarkson more than their content. I thought the content of the last show was interesting, I found myself becoming annoyed at their 'clique'...

I thought it was a fantastic episode.

The show is so popular (whether liked or despised) that it is studied in fine detail. How did they get such a good shot here when they were doing this, that scene looked scripted etc etc.

When they've done basically the same thing to death many times now, it is almost impossibly hard to make everything look spontaneous and yet still somehow get a camera to capture it perfectly with the high production standards the team constantly output. There will always be a tradeoff.

For me, the bar has been raised again ever so slightly over the polar trip. They've now ticked off most of the continents and therefore will have to engineer ever more unbelievable situations just to maintain the same standard. I don't know how much longer they can keep it up, but I'll keep watching whilst they try.

Maybe they shot two scenes, the one where the stones were falling propably was another shot.

It should not be analysed in detail, you should just watch it.

I think that's half the problem with the 'OMG IT'S STAGED AND SCRPITED' brigade. They seem to just watch it in minute detail to pull it apart

It seems quite bizzare, do you guys do that with all TV programmes

I've seen it mentioned in the magazine that for previous specials they do the challenge, then send the crew to film any necessary artistic fluff and secondary shots for a couple of days before they leave.

Loved last night's episode. I've cycled down that "world's most dangerous road" and it's as scary as they make out to be, still brilliant fun.

In fact, I've been to every location they visited on this trip, I must disagree with Clarkson though, La Paz is a fantastic place.
