Same. I was hoping the entire episode was set there. They could have done some funny challenges like making their cars radiation proof

Aye, it's an increased risk but not a significant one. I know that much.
No effect. Iirc one day tour is equivalent to an x-ray. Or something like that. as long as you don't eat any plant or drink any water gathered from the area, its extremely safe.
Not a bad episode, but agreed should have been a longer segment. I wonder why Hammond didn't go in, Its be on ,y to do list for years.
It won't affect them. It sounds worse than it is. I believe some of the previous residents even moved back to their homes in the exclusion zone.
I'd love to explore the place.

Agreed - it could have been even more interesting I love the story of Chernobyl.
I couldn't help but think COD4 though!
Radiation is not a problem, unless you get contaminated (which is why often you're not allowed to trek through vegetation which I believe can hold more radioactive elements than just "dust"). You get more radiation from the connecting flight TO Chernobyl.

Fair point, but I think it would be boring if every episode was a triple car road test around the Cotswolds.
The same way I enjoyed the Vietnam special et al it is nice to see them driving somewhere unusual and still road testing. I think they could even have said a bit more about the cars in this one too.

Not the best episode and they really overplayed the dangers of Chernobyl but the Ukraine does have some very interesting cold war stuff!
