Torchlight Action RPG by ex Blizzard North

Bought it ealier, well worth £15 - great game. Anyone know where I can respec my talents though, I'm sure one of the people allowed me to earlier but I can't find him now :\

As far as I know there's no respec in game. My guess is it'll be one of the features added to an expansion they're hopefully releasing in the future.

Somebody did make a mod that adds a potion to the vendor that allows you to respec your spells, it's somewhere on the Torchlight forums.

My character so far - level 28:

WoW character much? :D

Played 3-4 hours this morning when no-one was on for Borderlands - Loving the game, couple of questions.

How do I get to level 10 on the necropolis? I get to level 8, then the next level is the chamber.

Also, what level is the Deathlace Ember on?

Downloaded the demo for this earlier.
I'm not normally anal about graphics or anything, I play a lot of old games so it doesn't bother me. But my god this particular style sickens me to the core. And I fear Diablo 3 is going to be just as bad.

Going to give this one a miss I think, and I have absolutely zero faith in D3 being to my liking either :(
Bring back 2D Diablo with atmosphere!

<snip>

This is a very bizarre comment. You don't like the graphics, fine each to their own although I like them a lot. I have more problems with more photo realistic representations. Obviously my uncanny valley is in a different place from yours.

What is really odd is your extrapolation from this to Diablo 3, a game made by a completely different company with different employees that has already been shown to look completely different. If anything this game is more like D2 than D3 will be. Do you have anything to support this claim or just general 'Its not D2 so it sucks'itus?

How does the pet system work btw? Am wanting to get this soon.

The pet assists you in your fights - unless you have him as imaginary. He also can be dispatched back to the shops to sell your gear. In addition he can use 2 spells and have 2 rings and 1 necklace.

If you give him fish he changes to a creature for a short period of time.

Whole game rocks - download the demo which as I understand it only has the restriction of level 7 (no dungeon restriction :) ). Your character will then work if you get the game (not that it takes many people long to decide :) )

On a side note, Matt Uelmen did the soundtrack to this game, the guy from diablo 1 and 2, I thought the music was brillaint as ever in the 15 mins I played of this, would've loved to have heard more... but can't stomach this WoW lookalike.

Luckily your in the minority, most people love it.

It's a great game and captures the essence of Diablo perfectly. Looking forward to some great mods.

Word to the wise.

I lost a Gold staff last night thinking that removing the Gem would just do that. They do remove the Gem for you but you don't get the item back. I was gutted to say the least. Just about to meet the end boss too.

Well that's just it, TO ME, from the videos I've seen, D3 doesn't look at all dis-similar to this game (which is why I bring it up), it has that same cartoon undertone that WoW and this game have. Great thing about opinions that.

It is much harder to create the atmosphere in 3D compared to 2D, as quoted by Matt Uelmen in a recent interview, but he seemed happy they were going in the right direction, we'll have to wait and see. But like I said, I don't have any high expectations that I'll like it because there haven't been many sequels I have enjoyed based on a classic which I loved. Call it ''Its not D2 so it sucks'itus' if you will.

And what claim are you refering to? As far as I can see I was just stating my opinion

Really enjoyed this so far, so much so I'm starting from scratch so I can ensure I miss nothing as I level. Graphics are great, not too details but obviously made to run smoothly. Some elements are a tad simplistic but it doesn't get in the way of good gameplay.

One of those NPCs destroys the item to retrieve the gems, the other destroys the gems in the item so you can re-gem it.
