Torchlight II

Well since COD was created by the MOH developers....

Out of interest have you played Diablo, Diablo 2 or TL?

Just seems that you are just pulling reference from D3.

That doesn't make it the same. With this they've basically copied whole chunks of the engine. You can tell after playing it just for a few minutes. Medal of Honour played nothing like Call of Duty.

Yes I've played them all.

imo they really need to do something about pets when they die they are pretty much invincible they just run around and come back

So why all of a sudden do you object to TL2 being a Diablo clone, when the same can be said for Diablo 2 and Diablo 3?

Because with this version it's even more obvious. Torchlight 1 was a really bad diablo 2 clone, they've improved it with this by basically copying every feature of D3. Titan Quest was a perfect example of a good RPG that didn't follow the crowd and copy. Path of Exile will be even better and Grimdawn.

Some would say that the have improved it by dropping Diablo 3 features i.e. RMA, and the online requirement.

For some people then yes I agree. Though playing a game which seems 90% the same (to me) without online features and RMAH isn't really a selling point.

I can totally see how some people like yourself will like this. I just got the feeling straight away that I'd played it before. For £11.50 or whatever you can get it for it's a good price if you haven't played much Diablo.

You just don't get it do you. All them games you listed aren't clones of one another. They play differently, if medal of honour plays like cod I don't know which versions you were playing. Seriously hardly anything is different between TL2 and D3.

Like someone above said it's D3 without the Auction House. If that's what it's supposed to be then fine but I'm just giving my opinion that I'm pleased I didn't pay for a clone.

Yeah they do, I'll grant you that CoD and MoH aren't exactly the same per se, but MoH was still the first FPS to deviate from the fast paced arcade feel that the genre had, then CoD followed suit.

Every other example was spot on.

They weren't at all most of them you mentioned have entirely different game mechanics from one another. When I play forza I don't feel like I'm playing Gran Turismo. When I play cod I dont feel like I'm playing MoH. When I played this it felt like I was just running through Diablo again with different graphics and a few different aspects.

Using your logic you're basically saying all the best games of each genre cloned each other which in my opinion is completely wrong.

Just tried this out pleased I didn't buy it. Complete diablo clone, even down to things like looting bodies and rocks and exact same key mappings. How do they get away with it?

By making the whole thing from scratch themselves?
Diablo isn't the only game in the genre you know.

I never stated it was. If they've made the whole thing from scratch then it's some huge coincidence it feels like the same game.

Shame we dont have an item trading thread or such, this just dropped in my game...

Not at all, I was using your logic about Diablo vs Torchlight when compared to other genres. If you can't see the blazing similarities between the 2D fighters and scrollers from the 80s/90s, the classic COD and MOH games and pretty much every track racing simulation game out there, but can see the similarities with these two games then your just being strangely biased despite being completely inexperienced with the game.

Every single thing that you listed was the same about Torchlight and Diablo are the same in Titan Quest. Maybe they should have mapped the attack button to the volume adjust on your speakers to set themselves apart from the genre. :p

Besides the people who worked on Diablo 2 worked on this, and the people who work at Blizzard now worked on Diablo 3, which is why Diablo 3 is **** and this game is a lot of fun.

It's marketed as a clone and it's well known to be a clone, but the fact you hated it for that was strange when so many different games are cloned from ones before it. It's a poor reason to dislike a fantastic game, and your robbing yourself of the experience.

It feels like the same game because of the genre it is. It smooth and runs brilliantly, can't fault any of the animations at all. Its cause of things like that it feels so similar, blizzard put huge levels of detail into things like that. Which is why things like Titan Quest feel clunky in comparison.

Shame the same can't be said for the runic log in / account creation servers.

LOL, and with what I've quoted there I think I'll end discussions with you. If you're trying to tell me Titan Quest is just as much of a clone as Torchlight then you haven't played it.

I'm not robbing myself of an experience at all. I've experienced it for a good hour before coming to my conclusions, it doesn't take me any longer than that to realise it's near enough a direct clone. I know it's marketed as a clone and upon trying it I don't like it. Should we all just be sheep and follow every game Omaeka likes? Or are we all just robbing ourselves of experience if we don't?

Because the people who made Diablo, made Torchlight 2, you complete muppet.

Diablo 3 is made by a different team, hence why it sucked, this is made by the team who made Diablo 2. Do some research and you'll stop yourself looking like a moron.

How've I made myself look like a moron when I compared TL2 to D3. I think you need to re-read what I wrote. If that's the case it shouldn't be anything like D3 then should it. Calm down with the insults pal your the one making yourself look the fool.

The things you noted about Torchlight's mechanics that you claimed were the same as Diablo's are all in Titan Quest aswell, that is what I was talking about.

Oh btw your attitude and the tone in your posts make you come across as a ****.

Just sayin'
