Torn between two styles

Nice!

Anyway I wouldn't say air con was essential, not in england anyway. You don't really get hot weather that often, I wouldn't pay to have it put in. It's nice if its already there though.

I see that yes, but I didn't want to travel too far away to pick one up. I set a distance and my budget, and found one that I am very happy with, and a lot less miles ;)

For the cost of a £30 train ticket it would seem rather stupid to restrict your choice of £5000-£6000 in such a bizarre way.

Plus, lot less miles? Jeez it has 14k less, big deal.

Maybe not a big deal to you, but it will take me 2 years to clock 14k up.

I have not restricted myself, I have gone for what I can afford. So instead of being so negative about minor things, be happy for me, that I have found a car with all I require (apart from an MP3 Player) with low~ish miles :)

So why did you buy a diesel :confused: :confused:

Diesels cost more than petrols because everyone assumes they will save money without bothering to do the maths.

Check out what sort of petrol Fiesta could have been yours:

Full leather on this one, as well as the rest of the stuff you wanted.

Ok, I'm happy for you. You've got a car that you perceive to be the best for your needs with some benefits that make no odds. Congrats ;)

It's a real shame, as I hate to see people making the same mistakes that typical car buyers make. You've gone for the headline things..

a) Economical, lots of mpg. Something which makes no odds, as you do low mileage
b) Low miles, so you've paid a premium for a low mileage car. Something which makes no odds, as the fact you do low miles means had you bought a 50k miler by the time you came to sell it, it'd be 'low mileage' for its age
c) You've restricted yourself to what you THINK you can afford becuase you didn't think outside the box to ascertain exactly WHAT you can afford

It's not the end of the world becuase the Fiesta is a decent car and the one you've bought is a sound example BUT you could have done better, you could have got more for your money, had you not rushed into buying. You asked for advice at midnight last night, less than 24 hours later you've already made a purchase on a car you know little about - last night you were still working out what trim level gave you what goodies.

A car is the second most expensive thing most people will EVER buy in their entire life. It makes it even more puzzling why so many people rush through the process :confused:

I see what you are saying in some respects, that I have set my mind on a diesel and I have tunnel vision. The full leather does looks nice, and the price and millage is the same.

I have been looking for the past 10 days, at the cars, and last night narrowed it down. I have taken some good advice off friends and family in the past and as I know what I want, I went for it.

This car will hopefully last me for some years to come. Maybe I shouldn't have made my comparision with the mpg, road tax, and insurance, from my old Rover 420Sli, but I know I will save money with this new car in the long run.

Is it expensive, do you know? Will I have to go to a Ford garage to get it sorted as well?

TIA :)

Unsure, my local car audio technicians have them but im not sure, £30? Not sure though.

The Fiesta's come with a CD player as standard, but is it possible swap out these and put in a CD MP3 player instead? As you can see its not like most normal ones :confused:

In regards to this issue with the music system. I have had a price of £117 all in from Car Electronic's. Ford said it would be £100 + Labour. This will include taking out the music system, and putting in a double fascia. Does this price sound about the standard, or is it a bit steep :confused:

[TW]Fox said:
Of course its steep, just remove the old plastic fascia yourself :confused:

Its a bit more than just that. They have to remove the sound system, and cut around the dash, so there is one big hole. then they put in a double fascia, so I can have either a double or sinlge DIN system

Don't you just replace the entire lower part of the dash?

I would be suprised if this involed cutting.

The only downside is that there is only a 30-day Warrenty, or I pay £399 for the RAC 5 Star Warrenty :(

You've bought this one? I would have insisted they chucked in a years warranty or there would be no deal. I did the same with my 2002 Focus i got less than 6 months ago - already had:

* New front dampers
* New CAT
* New Power Steering pump

Would have cost me - £1,300 in parts and labour. When the warranty renewal comes through - i think i might renew :D
