Total War: Warhammer 3

Just noticed Total war Warhammer 3 randomly appeared in my steam library... I didn't buy it nothing in my purchase history but I already owned the first 2 Warhammer games did they just give it away for free if you owned the first 2 already?

Same here. I do vaguely recall an announcement along those lines - I think it had got to the point where they'd rather sell the DLC and get everyone playing the same version rather than the huge number of combos they technically needed to support.

CA does nice things occasionally I remember a few years back when they gave away all the DLC for Empire total war for free :D

They unlocked the Immortal Empires and Lost God campaigns to owners of Warhammer 1 and/or Warhammer 2. You don't receive all of the content available within Warhammer 3, but there's a separate upgrade pack that can be purchased too.

What levels are you playing at normally (general question for all)..

I'm ok for 40 turns or so and then.......... Depending on the Race of course, but still.

GOOD LORD.

I don't know what's happened to me but I just can't get a campaign going in this game. I've tried about 6 different campaigns now, with a few different races/lords, and I just get rinsed within an hour or two.

I've been playing Total War games since the first Shogun and didn't have any problems at all with the first 2 games in the trilogy.

I'm really struggling to see what's going on here, lol. Is this game just harder or something? Or have I finally reached an age where I'm just crap now? Lawd help me.

IMO the game has become very complex, and whereas in trad TW you can logic out what beats what - i.e. units without shields charging ranged units will get wrecked, cav charging a spear wall is a bad idea etc - for this there are so many numbers of unit types, corresponding magic etc that if you go in without knowing the meta it can be really rough. And the game doesn't really communicate what that meta is or the optimal way of playing.

Either that or git gud I guess.

Yeah there is a lot to get your head around, I never played the earlier TW series but when I hear other people struggling who have, I guess its a bit of dedication and patience to get that mindset needed.

Well I got a decent campaign going with Cathay, but there is one problem which really annoyed me in all honestly. The Bastion Wall thing was super annoying. It seemed like the AI waited until the Chaos guys attacked the wall in order to declare war on me lol. So I had my whole army decimated fighting off Chaos along with whoever was attacking me this time. To the point where I couldn't really do much else except defend this wall time and time again. What's hilarious is that I somehow won the campaign? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills lol.

I'm sure it's probably a skill issue too, since I am very rusty having not played a TW game for a while.

Are there any campaigns I can do which don't have some mechanic like that tied to them? I just want a chill game where I can conquest at my leisure!
