CLASSIC ARENA-FPS ACTION

TOXIKK plays, as if today's military shooters never existed. It is designed as a successor to the fast paced FPS giants of the late 90s and early 2ks, carefully evolving their core concept with a fresh setting, new weapons and many ideas that were elaborated in co-operation with Arena-FPS enthusiasts. There is no levelling, no skill-trees, no perks, no cover systems, no classes, no configurable weapons, no reload and no iron sight aiming.

Instead you get fast movement, double jumps, dodge jumps, booster pick-ups, nine iconic WEAPONS to be carried around simultaneously, secondary fire modes for every weapon, jump pads, health-packs, lots of vertical gameplay, optional mutators (incl. instagib) and everything else that made these kind of games addictive.

WEAPONS

TOXIKK features nine different weapons that can be carried around simultaneously. You start with your melee weapon (IMPACTOR) and your basic pistol (RAVEN) with unlimited ammo. All other weapons and ammo are to be picked up in the map. Visit our WEAPONS GUIDE to get a full description of all available weapons.

MAPS AND GAME MODES

TOXIKK features two different kinds of maps: CLASSIC MAPS and MASSIVE MAPS. Classic Maps offer fast-paced gameplay in small to medium-sized maps for up to 8 players. These maps do not feature any vehicles, but are based on man-to-man or squad-based combat, while Massive Maps feature more strategic gameplay in bigger environments for up to 16 players. Vehicular Combat is exclusively available in Massive Maps. Vist MAPS & GAME MODES for a full description of the available maps and their game modes.

VEHICLES

The MASSIVE MAPS in TOXIKK always feature the use of vehicles for a more strategic gameplay experience. Like the weapons, all vehicles in a map are available to every player. Just walk up to them and hop in. We will add a detailed description of each vehicle soon.

BACKGROUND

Upon the peak of the global energy crisis in the late 22nd century, the exploited and polluted world was no longer run by governments. Mega corporations and cartels replaced the bankrupt regimes and turned politicians into puppets to protect their economic interests.

The ongoing cartel wars revealed EXOCOM and DRAYOS to be the two most powerful syndicates in this new world order. Both factions had hired large armies of mercenaries to openly fight for control over Earth's remaining natural resources and a newly discovered, highly energetic element, named EDEN (En). Read BACKGROUND to learn more about the world of TOXIKK, the factions and your role in the game.

Looks good but games like this always suffer with a dwindling player base, which is a shame, but it's the reality of the matter.

There's been a few of these shooters in the last few years and all of them have fallen flat on their face, the only hope is the new Unreal Tournament.

This.

It will be amazing. Nobody will play it.

Meanwhile, CoD 756 will be rubbish, and everyone will play it.

:(

Got to be worth a purchase just as loads will be playing when released, but unless it's really really good I can imagine it just dying out.

Agreed with the dude on the forum tbh, you cant claim 'arena fps roots' and then have vehicles in the game. Just sort of looks like a tribes style game to me, i think of quakes/ut99 as arena fps myself so as much as i wanted to get excited for this when i read the subject, a quick look of the trailer has put me off :/

Still, am sure it will be much better than all the cod style games that are released these days. I think the golden age of fps-games died with quake 3.

Pfff

Lacks brown!!!

1999: even though wee'd evolved a little, we were still basking in the darker dull shades of the spectrum:)

I'm still playing Quake 3 and Quake Live. Will have to be out of this world to become my primary FPS.

Could be good, will wait and see. Was an insta-buy until I saw vehicles being mentioned.

It does just say "Vehicle Modes"... it doesn't mean "Vehicles everywhere"!

Why the hate? Surely having them as an optional mode is better than not having them at all. If it's better without them I'm sure there'll be a core contigent that choose to play without - like infantry only modes in BF2.

Being put off a game because it has optional modes for things you don't want is a bit OTT.

Yeah it looks like 2 different map types. Arena maps for arena play, and then gert big huge ones for vehicles.

Needs bombing run tbh. The most fun I had in UT2k4 was playing bombing run. Was like future murder rugby, loved it. Launch bomb upwards, shoot everyone, catch ball, run, repeat, jump through goal and be headshotted just before scoring!
