Yeah but waiting list is 2023 and later now with Nio confirmation they will actually get one.

Think the cheaper cars advertised seem to be dealers just advertising the price of a new car but with no actual stock or just forgotten to take the adverts down, the cheapest available cars seem to all be 34k plus, if Toyota pull the plug values will go up more.

Mate no way is anyone gonna wait over a year for a Yaris GR.

Didn't that have an awful lot of money spent on it though. PPF, custom audio, filter, exhaust, suspension? Still, you ain't getting one RRP anytime soon.

Gonna be a huge crash once the deliveries turn up. Global chip shortage and hype is keeping the prices solid for now.

I’m sorry but anything over a year wait for anything other than a custom spec car(think Aston or ad personam Lambos) is silly.

Long waits are pretty normal at moment across several marquee due to shortages and the GR since launch has had a minimum of six months unless your lucky and most have been waiting circa 12 months now.

A crash is unknown on GR if they keep making them then yes absolutely I can see 2-3yr old examples hitting 20-25k but if they stop production to switch over to Corolla then I can see Yaris values holding firm because there is no other modern car like it and probably won’t be again. Anything remotely fun and engaging to drive is moving up in price as fun is coming to end unless battery powered stuff is your thing.
 
I would very much doubt they will build all these extra batches, so I’d expect there will many disappointed people who potentially will turn to the used market. Even then the numbers in the UK will not that high, so there will always be a rarity value.
 
I think the last we heard from Toyota was the waitlist for anyone in 2023 onwards. The longer any disruption to production carries on for pushes them closer I imagine to the rumoured Corolla production.

So they might run out of time in whatever production cycles they have scheduled and no more are made after the end of 2022. Which for the wider car buying enthusiasts is a shame.

It might actually have been my best new car purchase ever when looking at current residuals. It is obviously, half decent to drive as well.
 
I just waited 9 months just to get some engine build parts due to the current environment, nevermind a whole car.

These Yaris are more like your fancy pants custom built sports cars, it's not just a GTI rolling down the same production line, doesn't surprise me that there's a wait.

Also doesn't sound like they make a load of dough with them so now they are not being used for motor sport I can see them turning the tap off unless the latest regs for hybrid racers can be accomodated in that shell.

I should probably buy more brand new cars, I've only done it twice and on both occasions depreciation has been minimal, last one was Mustang.

I've got some terrible history with used cars, M3 CSL, purchased at like 27k, sold for like 24-25k a year or so later they were 50k plus lol. My 911 can't remember purchase price but might have been around 35k, sold it 5 years later for late 20's but now it would be 50+. Fingers crossed though times are changing forever as the cars I now own I could sell for more than paid, no intentions of selling any though to be honest, I am sure at somepoint I will when I get fedup of washing, servicing and having to repair them all, lol.
 
We're in a big macro bubble though, not just cars. Silicon shortage sure is hitting it, not so the GR which has massive demand regardless and the GR line has only missed like 3 days all year. The biggest driver still is the fact the government literally created money and threw it at rich people, there's 20% more GBP in circulation than a year ago! More supply of money = higher prices.

With the current bubble my MX5 is just about to hit 2 years old (purchased new) and has only depreciated £4k looking at current prices. So £166 a month, makes it seem really quite cheap.

As long as the current “bubble” doesn’t burst I seem to be doing okay as well..... so the GR currently showing over list price, my Mk3 Focus RS after 5 years is climbing after bottoming out, possibly only 5-6k under what I paid new, still early days for the RS, it’s value will be over a longer time. My Z4 35iS bought used has gone up by about 1.5K since I bought it less than 2 years ago.
Tempting to sell the Z4, but the iS is rare and I like the diverse mix these three gives. Not as exotic as some peoples garages for sure but all feel a bit special.

it's the Lotus Cortinas and V6 capris, RS Escorts etc that are shooting up in price as well.............. i viewed quite a few really nice Jag XJRs and they're quite cheap.......... the 2009 ones, not the recent ugly ones.
