So after finding a decent BMW 330CD and arranging to collect it the seller decided to sell it on to someone else as he just couldent wait the extra few days for me

Luckily for me my circumstances in the last week have changed dramatically and it looks like im now getting a company car of some sort therefor no real need to spend 11k + on a 330CD ....

Sooo ive decided that i want to buy a fun car that i can use on the odd weekend but mostly for trackdays, trips to the ring etc ... My budget is around £5000 and the car must have the basic bits done allready ( Some decent seats, some decent rubber and some decent suspension ) and if possible a cage of some sort would be nice. I dont want to buy a car and then spend 1000s on mods so i can lose it all a year later (i would rather someone else did this for me :p)

ive been looking at Clio 172 cups, ive allways had a strange itch for one evan tho i had a trophy for a year. There seem to be one or two with a few nice track day orientated mods around on pistonheads :)

Your suggestions with links if possible would be much appreciated ;)

Regards

Sam

Should get a decent FI MX5 for that, get around 200bhp/ton as well.

OR, A Woodsport MR2 Mk1.5 - again at the 200bhp/ton category, that is much fun around a track.

Unless you're running in the very high speed tracks like Silverston, then handling and acceleration are king, not top speed. For £5k,you could buy a sorted '5 with suspension and decent brakes. Get used to it on decent rubbr before having it turbo'd or supercharged. Something like a Clio is going to get you to the limit fairly quickly, leaving you nowhere to go,

you just missed out on this

*** No Hotlinking ***

it was £4k with only 100 miles on the engine 30k on the chasis. 400whp and all the suspention mods etc, even had a half cage, buckets, harness's gauges.

FC's are where its at for track toys

Yea something like that would be fine, particually if your going to 'ring it, i would hate to drive across europe in a little tin box.

Get yourself on some more driver training days with a well balanced RWD car, aka 944 / E36.
