Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Euro and Sterling are tanking, for some related, some different reasons. Eurozone is suffering because the economic powerhouse (Germany) is being crippled by the energy crisis and compounded by issues like the Rhine drying up, and is facing a dreadful winter of gas rationing.

The UK is less exposed to the gas supply problem, but it unfortunately highly exposed to the shower of morons in office that are systematically destroying our economy.
And the Yen?

UK might not be (as) exposed to the supply problem but the price rises will destroy our economy anyway. While EU governments have adopted measures that keep a lid on inflation we have decided to let it rip.

This year EUR and GBP and pretty close in losses vs the USD but GBP started from a relatively weak position anyway after years of turmoil.

You'll see sterling rise in bull markets and fall in bear markets that is just how it is due to our massive trade deficit amongst other things.

It’s less GBP going down the toilet, and more the USD gaining strength as the traditional currency of cash holdings during economic strife. Euro has done even worse than the pound against the dollar.

absolutely ,safe haven dollar ,ftse all world tanked yesterday but more interest rate talk across the pond dollar shot up ,my vwrl that tracks the allworld (dollar fund) goes up
the ftse also likes a strong dollar as 75 percent of the revenue from it is from overseas (news to the fantasy portfolio guys on here :p)
Edit sticks an emoji in there , I've had caffeine now

In theory this is simple. Gov debt is up but lower as % GDP

but still confusing does it trigger anything from imbalance. Every USA citizen 'owes' 70k from birth. Every Norwegian has a similar amount in surplus saved up for them, small nation big oil [US$190,000 per capita]

Rolls Royce back at 80p... Still seems like they have a lot of potential, and back making profit this year, tempted to buy. But then again could take a long time for their business to get back to where it was, and any money from reactors will be a long time coming, and vulnerable to any future shock to air travel. Also expecting the recession to bite soon... Hmm

One to hold for a good 5-10 years tbh. Less money in peoples pocket and they are struggling to recruit the skills base for SMR stuff.

End of the Decade for the 'fast' build reactors. a lot of time to us but thats very rapid, I presume it doesnt have to be finished and working for them to have been selling the big parts going into it.

RR has been good to me over the last few years, made some good trades. Bought the dip again

I've always wanted a house builder. Been watching persimmon for a while. Been resisting due to incoming inflation and thus rate rises and thus housing crisis.

But its at a 5 year low now.

Still holding off. But temptation is there
