Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

INTC even got a bit of respite with the news of the Mobileye IPO.

I'm not looking at prices again for a week :p

Tbh I think we have worse to come. Putin dropping a tactical nuke, or destroying more gas pipelines.

This has concerned me too.

High chance of some escalation. You know it will send markets into free fall

I think Europe is only just starting to feel the pain. The winter of rolling blackouts that is coming is going to demolish economic activity.

I'm sticking with US stocks.

Think I'll buy my monthly SMT chunk for my SIPP today though, trading at >12% discount again.

I was just about to make a.post after several days research where to put my money. Couldn't come to a conclusion and upon reading above realised I missed one of the most crucial things. Should Putin do anymore silly things it could be a catastrophe having anything in European markets.

I know this isn't a financial advice thread, but what have people bought lately in the US and for what reasons?

I just go global etf, if half the world's on fire hopefully the other half is still making money...

Putin and his unpredictability is the significant concern on shares.

If that war ended tomorrow everything would rally. And probably significantly.

However. If markets genuinely get a whiff of a nuke all bets are off. But to be honest if it comes to that I'd be more concerned about WW3 than my funds.

Unless Putin is removed I can’t see him not using one (or two). He said recently the US set a precedent for using nukes to win a war so he’s clearly considering this as a viable option when there is no other left.

I agree with this, I'm pretty sure he is going to use a small tactical nuke some point this winter. All previous conventions on how states should behave are off. Although I am confident that it won't result in a full scale war, I think it will trigger a complete shutdown of all interactions with Russia, total embargo of everything, every pipeline closed, every border closed, and the ensuing energy shutdown across Europe which is going to hit everyone hard, particularly Germany, but every European country will be stuffed.

It'll just increase upward pressure on the dollar, at a time when markets are starting to look out the other side of the inflationary problem.

Upward pressure on the Dollar would have what consequence?

I also see him using one.

He's verbally justifying it with the USA WW2 argument.
And the annexing of parts of Ukraine.

Wouldnt surprise me if he used one, hopefully, that would be the catalyst for us as a race to realise they're not really the right way to solve problems and we all grow up as a result of that, it would almost be worth a single nuke...

I think we are relatively close to pricing in what's expected over winter.

At this point I think Ukraine is the main concern. As it could turn very bad very quickly.

DXY in decline, could signal a turnaround, but I still don't think the reality of blackouts this winter has been priced in. Starting to hear more talk of energy rationing, but it's not really hitting the mainstream consciousness yet.

Yeah I've seen various reporti g the potential blackouts, especially in EU.

A lot of forecasts of markets about to take a huge fall. Nasdaq is at a point where it is going to follow a 2008 or worse 2000 type fall.

If I was trading, I'd be selling off these last couple days of gains for sure. I don't see any sustained recovery until the Ukraine situation is resolved.

The destruction of the unused gas pipelines was a test and a warning.....I think he'll take out more and lead to widespread blackouts.

I'm keeping my powerbank charged, my kindle loaded, and my monthly savings in cash for a bit :D
