Joules is going into administration.

Who will pick up the pieces Next or Mike Ashley?
I used to work for the CEO of Joules at another retailer. He was a complete **** with a hyper inflated ego, and limited ability which he hid with his ego. Not surprised.

A bit more...... A bit more, 3k is nothing. Again punishing the middle. This Tory government need outing ASAP
After you've maxxed out your pension and ISA, which is what, about 50k in contributions per year then yes, outside of tax wrappers you can afford the CGT.

Well ideally you should not be selling anything and thus not be liable for CGT.

I guess the issue is you are trading and not simply buying an index, how about trade inside the ISA, while keeping your other account a single ETF/Fund which is the index.

I bet most people that make gains above that new allowance probably won’t declare them. They either wouldn’t know how or realise they had even made that much in gains. Once you make multiple investments over years it gets really hard to keep on top of the actual gains. I bet they don’t even get 10% of what they expected in that £3k-12k band.

er it;s really easy to see how much profit you make when you sell stuff?

you can get a break down from your broker though for the tax year?
Not everywhere provides section 104 holding calculations. It will be too complicated for most people not used to paying CGT. Once you have done partial sales and some further purchases later then the calculation is complicated. I have a huge spreadsheet to do mine for my company shares.

Are you in pensions?

Isn't it absurd that this was even possible, leverage on gilts?

Holy revival! Just to let you know in that particular crisis, I was in a meeting yesterday. The answer was no bids on UK gilts. No bids worldwide on UK gilts. Hence the liquidity facility. It was 4 days of no bids before the BOE opened the facility. Old news, but the entire planet thought the UK was a worse bet than Bitcoin, magic beans, or even Musk investments. We certainly dodged a bullet but the Tories will never admit it. I now know they genuinely cannot be trusted.

None of them can be trusted, that will be the ultimate conclusion. I got no faith in BOJ ECB BOE or the FED will survive the harshest inspection. Thats a lot of trillions so I really wonder how that turns out but I presume QE fallout will occur in my lifetime.

BOJ holds 1tn $ treasuries afaik
