Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Having some remarkably good luck timing trades recently. Not selling whole holdings, just taking a slice off when things go my way and keep a bit of cash around for buying opportunities. Sold a chunk of lucid when it was up at 5.something.

Shifted stuff around for a modest YOLO into Atai yesterday, now 30% of my holdings, and they announced a new investment this morning that sent it popping again.
I did take a look at Atai, and everything about it made me think... "This ****** is out of his mind, if he thinks this is a good investment.. lol.."
But I'm happy it's working out for you... :)

It's very risky, like any biotech, but I've seen what psychadaelics can do for people that existing treatments and drugs can't. I'll be scattering some funds around various companies in the sector the next few months. Bought a chunk of CYBN today too.

I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can afford to take big risks. Last year was a mixed bag, some stuff netted me some good gains that's I've largely cashed in. Some is down and I'll need to hang onto for a while.

Keeps it interesting anyway :)

Having worked in the medical research industry in the past, I have been told timelines of how long it takes for a drug take to get approval and biotech is a very much cyclical industry when it comes to profits. Surely the best outcome for the company and yourself is either a buyout of the company or the drug itself?

At the moment I'm trying to exit positions to liquidate to move the funds to an ISA account in April...

again good luck..

McDonald's shares are dropping at the moment for being pro-israel.. might be worth keeping an eye on it for a cheap buy in.

who else bought into rolls Royce in covid up 215% atm trying to decide if to sell or invest some more. overall up 98% on my aviation picks trying to decide to hold or take profits. rtx, saf, airbus, boeing. thinking to sell the airbus as theyre up 70% and i hold a lot ore through the workplace deals these are my private ones bought at market.

RR feels a big gamble on mini reactors now the aviation side has recovered and small nuclear always seems a dead end.

If its your only capital I'd second guess. I think their plan for mini reactors will be to offer the aftermarket services like their engines. That means you won't see the real benefit for at least a decade or two.

No its only a small part up about 5.3k on top of a 2.6k investment.

I've done well since covid but everything is slowing down wondering if it's a bit wasted opertunity now but don't know where to move to or just take the profit

Yep, up 200% here. I sold roughly 30% of my holding recently - but am somewhat unsure, like you.

anyone using T212 and is using their debit card payments to fund the account?

My current main bank account doesn't support bank transfers to them, so I've been doing a mix of card payments and transfers from a secondary account.
I'm getting towards the limit of £2000 fee free card payments, but can't be sure and I've got two different answers when I sent them an email.

is there anyway I can check this for myself which ones was done via card payment and which ones was done via bank transfers?
how does it show up on app/website?

Thanks

I put £30k in at an average of 0.98 - even got some more from the rights issue at 34p or something back a few years ago, haven't touched it since...its now enough to pay my mortgage off...was very much a gamble and I wanted to sell it a few times but let it ride, £3.50 is my target.

Congratulations, that's a good average. Wish I'd averaged down during the 70 odd dip, but that's the nature of it I suppose.

If you were seeing the stock for the first time today, would you still invest 30k in it?

Was looking to transfer the shares I hold in my HL ISA to someone like T212 to save on the HL selling costs, but I see T212 only do cash transfers and not stock transfers.

Any other providers that I can do stock transfer to that would be much cheaper than HL?

I transferred to Vanguard from HL.

AJ Bell do "in specie" transfers for ISA and SIPP

The main ones use to be AJ Bell and Vanguard, there is a recent article here comparing UK providers and costs :-
