Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

No idea what is happening within GE but recent times have meant my poor choice of timing when purchasing a big lump in 2017 is finally looking half decent. I'm 32% up at the moment on that. To cover those losses I then purchased 5.5k worth through the company too, in the following years, when prices were low. They're 82% up! I am hoping the Aviation spin off that is due to happen (I thought in Q1 this year but a friend who still works for GE hasn't heard anything) will have a positive impact however it may not. So I sit pondering do I bail before that happens or hold on and wait and see.

Kraken Robotics seems to be on a slow steady climb now.

I was up 50% so decided to double down.

probably a good long hold, obviously do your own research and don't rely on a forum post.
save that for when you browse tiktok

Random one but I wanted to start dumping some spare change into global allcap each month long term. If I open an account with vanguard I notice it says minimum investment £100 a month, but all cap is a smidge over 200 at the moment. Does anyone know if you can buy fractional shares of it on vanguard?

I think it's only the ETF's that you have to buy a full share. Pretty sure when I had all cap you could do fractional shares.

If your doing it as a single order, an one off.. I believe it’s full shares only.
If you’re doing it as a monthly repeating order, you can have fractional shares… I have a dd setup per month for a set value and they always use the full value to purchase shares and fractions of the share.

Another tipbit is have some cash deposit in the account and leave it as cash. The interest rate isn’t as good as the banks but to there to cover the costs, if you work out the correct amount that will generate the interest that is required to cover your fees, it becomes basically free to use the platform. You will just be losing out on inflation like with all cash in accounts and you need to increase the cash held as the amount invested increase.

Great thanks. I also have a freetrade.io stocks and shares ISA but it wouldn't let me buy fractional in any vanguard stuff or anything.

Just wanted to slide a set amount into something long-term, without picking stocks or thinking about it. Stuff like VUAG is on free trade, but it's priced at £75 at the moment, so a direct debit of £100 would just result in 1 share and then £25 quid sat in my account doing nothing?

Pretty new to this if it wasn't obvious, so I could be missing something.

Why not open at T212 account, there’s no account fee like vanguard and you can buy fractional shares so can invest your full amount each month.

Will take a look. Freetrade does offer fractional shares but only on US stocks I think. Do you know if T212 offers fractionals for things like VUAG for example? Also doesn't look like t212 has global all cap index. Actually, got a feeling all cap index is only through vanguard?

You can buy fractions of anything which T212 offer. They don’t have the global all cap as they don’t have index funds. But they have VWRL/P which will be similar.

You could add another ETF to capture small caps if you really wanted to.

Awesome thanks, I might bin off freetrade then as it costs me 6 quid a month for their S&S ISA. Will have to see how I go about transferring it to T212

T212 has just started rolling out inspecie transfers. I’ve just kicked off a transfer from vanguard.

Yeah this is great.
twice now I've sold after good Results. Having to wait would have lost out.

Am I right in thinking instead of messing around with ISA transfer forms, I can wait until 5th April and open a new ISA with T212, sell all my stuff in freetrade and close my S&S ISA there, and transfer the funds into the new t212 ISA? Just read it takes 6-8 weeks to transfer an ISA and 5th April isn't far off

You'll have to go through the transfer process to ensure you keep the funds inside the ISA wrapper.

i don't know where you've read it takes 6-8 weeks to transfer.... UK rules are it should take no longer than for cash isa 15 days other isa types 30 days.

To switch providers, contact the ISA provider you want to move to and fill out an ISA transfer form to move your account. If you withdraw the money without doing this, you will not be able to reinvest that part of your tax-free allowance again.

In the chatbot for freetrade it said:

"Please note that GIA and ISA transfers out currently take 6-8 weeks."

Ok in that case I'll just do the form and see what happens.
