Train Chav

The fact that he defined the chap as Indian clearly indicates that there was a racial edge to the situation.

Why does it? You're the one whose automatically assuming it's racially motived just because there happens to be a 'Indian' looking person involved. Since when can you not have a go at a person of colour without some liberal, hand-wringing moron declaring it racially motivated?

All I was saying was that if the OP stated that the guy was Indian it must have had relevance to the story. If it didn't have any relevance he should have just said "a guy". He didn't.

Also, as the guy "having a go" was described as a chav, I immediately attributed traits like; idiotic, bigotted, racist etc.

From what was written I think that it is a fairly reasonable assumption to make that the situation had some sort of racial overtones. You obviously don't agree, fair enough.

dear me... since when does noting the guy's race = racism??

you tend to point out the uncommon when you're telling a story, simple stuff guys... shouldn't have to explain this

For all I know the kind old gentlemen was a Browno, or brown skinned paedophile. On the rise apparently.

So how did the OP ascertain that the guy was Indian in the first place, did he go over and ask him to produce his Passport, or is he just lumping all people of the 'brown persuasion' into the same group?

What if he was wearing a turban? That would indicate Sikh, which would indicate indian.

To be fair, those of Indian origin are easy to recognise, as are Africans, South Americans, Chinese, Thai, and others - if you have experience of those peoples. There's no reason to make a point of it in this thread dude.

It's basically a Chav being a Chav. Personally, I'd leave him to it. If things got particularly heated I'd probably tell him to wind his neck in. If it escalated to violence towards an innocent passenger, I'd play a part if restraining him and calling the attention of security personnel. I'd expect any decent person to do the same.

Anything done to a perceived member of a minority group is racially motivated.

FACT!

Assault against a white person, hate crime against a brown person.

To be politically correct the op should have read, a person on a train was shouting at someone for touching him.

edit to change the word chav to person.
