yet the bbc says that London train drivers are on about £40k
Good on them tbh, the amount of ******* money the underground rakes in everyday i think they are entitled to spit their dummys out and want a cut of it the profit.

I don't know. For £40,000 a year I would give it a sincere shot.I know a train driver, I'm not going to try and justify their jobs but apparently it's mind numbingly boring, there's more red tape than you've ever seen, you sit there all day by yourself saying nothing to anyone and many of them have had someone thrown themselves in front of the train or run over an already dead corpse. Can't be nice seeing that and they have very serious counselling for that.

perhaps unlike most sectors. There's no alternative companies. These people really annoy me, what gives them the right to strike? Just because strike action causes chaos and thus they are more likely to get the outcome they want?

I know, and I'm not saying anything like I'm tough and can handle being involved in such a situation, as I've never been in a situation like it. I might even end up quitting if I was involved in such an incident.Lots of drivers have committed suicide, due to the memories of hitting suiciders and other people on track.
It might still be twitching, or chopped off at the torso trying to drag itself off the rails having changed its mind when you plough over its head and finish the jobIt would be hard to run over a live corpse.![]()

Gross

It's a skilled job plus there's the supply and demand factor.

There's a bit of a difference in my opinion.as for the maybe one or two dead people they'll see in their entire career - thats a complete joke
Then you'd lose on that pointI'd argue driving and manoeuvring a 44ton artic was just as skilled
.There's a bit of a difference in my opinion.
Someone dying as you try to save their life is a bit different to if someone purposefully jumps in front of your vehicle and you, in essence, have personally killed that person. I can see why it would be hard to deal with.
