There's a bit of a difference in my opinion.
Someone dying as you try to save their life is a bit different to if someone purposefully jumps in front of your vehicle and you, in essence, have personally killed that person. I can see why it would be hard to deal with.
I don't know how often it happens, I'm just saying it must be horrible when it does.I would say an extremely low percentage of train drivers have killed someone - from the way people are talking it makes it sound like it happens to almost every train driver.
