Hi all,

Taken delivery of some new bits today and wanted to explore the Windows 7 avenue. Didn't realise it had become unavailable to download :(

My mate was faster off the mark and installed it on several of his machines some time ago. Hes now not using it so could I use the same activation key for a fresh install?

Are there any legal shizzles that I would be breaking?

As Ultrakipper said, you can still get a key, they just no longer provide a download link to the .iso's. I'd imaging this is because there is such a rate of change on the builds now that they don't want to be maintaining the beta download site on a daily basis.

Depending on what release your friend has, I might be tempted to download the latest build (x86=7077 or x64=7068) as they're a vast imrovement over the original build MS hosted on the beta download page. The .iso's can be found in the usual download places.

In case you weren't aware a beta key can be used on upto 3 different machines at the same time. I've got 2 keys at home (x86 and x64) and have activated 4 different machines without problem.

There is no limit. Indeed there is less than 20 unique keys each for the x86 and 64 bit installs, from what I have read. Google your own key and I bet it turns up :)

7XRCQ-RPY28-YY9P8-R6HD8-84GH3 - 64bit install key (can't see why I cannot post it here, but please delete if needed), Used myself on 7000 thrice and 7068 twice (so far) AND it shows up in google so others must be using it!

LOL, I hope I can Google a legit key once Windows 7 goes retail :D

Windows 7 is actually worth paying for imho, unlike those previous disaster OS's like Win ME and Vista!

Saying that Windows Vista is a disaster and then saying Windows 7 will be worth paying for, which is on the complete opposite of the scale, something has gone terribly wrong. What makes you say that Windows Vista is a disaster? And when was the last time you used Windows Vista for an extensive period of time?

Without Windows Vista, we wouldn't be getting an operating system such as Windows 7.

Everything I hate about Vista centers around UAC. Every single problem I've had since finally upgrading to Vista two weeks ago has been centered around UAC.
Very tempted to go back to XP.

Strangely enough, I only had one problem when I tried Win7.
