Transformers 4

You just need to look at the statement by Marvel about the Iron Man franchise, they've said they'll keep making them with or without Robert Downy Junior and can see there being 10 or even 20 of them. Dollar signs are all these companies see, especially when they bring in excess of $1billion at the box office.

Yeah I just saw that. Pretty damn shameless, but as you say, it's all about the $$$.

You're probably right. 10 Iron man films.. hmm if 3 was anything to go by i think i will pass, i am surprised there hasn't been more protests about the poor quality of this film and the amount of money they fleeced fans for to watch it.. imdb is now just full of pages and pages of reviews slating it. Is it the highest grossing and most criticized film ever ? It cant be far off...

Is this what we have to look forward too with Star Wars now as well, endless Disney orientated family films until they have sucked the bones dry of the franchise and any memory of a decent film is long gone and there going straight to DVD..

I cant say i have been particularly annoyed by any of the transformers films and would like to see another

Saw the original Bay Transformers film last night on telly, and cast my mind back to the 3rd iteration. Night and day, there's been a steady decreasing quality of those films but I didn't realise just how blatant it was.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely is utterly terrible, she's wooden and pouty. Everyone she acted with seemed to take on her terrible attributes. Even a relatively seasoned actor such as Patrick Dempsey seemed to regress into a child actor at their first nativity play.

It's franchise attitudes like this that are a) going to drive people away from the cinema (and games consoles, thank you very much EA) and b) boost piracy. Nobody savvy of mind will pay to see many money tripe releases, but they might download it for a laugh. Then delete it, once they know they were right in thinking it was just another cash cow.

When a film is making $1billion, I think you are wrong.

Their target audience is children - children who then want to buy toys & franchising. Children and their families will still watch them.

I stand corrected, just checked out the worldwide grossings for the 3 films, and each one takes progressively more.

1 = $700mil~
2 = $830mil~
3 = $1.1bil~

Dang. Well there's definitely no chance of them changing the formula if that's the case. :D

Not sure about 4, loved the first 3 admittently but only due to the transformers specifically, did my head in with the whole love story etc :mad:

I had hoped for a prequel of sorts with the movie taking place only on cybertron :p

The films just got progressively worse. 1 was OK but lots of flaws, 2 was quite bad the way it seemed to ape Star Wars "Yes, my master" and all that cobblers. Then 3 just didn't work right from the off. And without wishing to sound prudish but I find Bays need to invade the english girls tradesmans with the camera as she walks up the stairs unnecessary.

Apart from the camero they look horrific :(

Its like they designed the toys first then created the real thing. It kind of sets the tone already for T4. Gutted.

You do realise this was the original premise of Transformers, right?

Will go and watch this for the lolz. Any Transformers is good Transformers, and I loved (and owned before it got stolen) the original series (and film) on VHS.

Looking forward to this, loved all the previous transformers...dont really care for a storyline or plot...this is one of those movies where you switch your brain off and just enjoy the action.
