Transformers ! :D

Another thing I didn't like was the AllSpark. Why did it make an electrical thing evil? It was never explained.

Plus, I don't remember Megatron and Optimus ever being brothers in the original cartoon, but it has been a while since I've watched it, so I may I have forgotten that much.

I didnt think he meant it literally. More like a warrior code sort of thing....

Guys guys guys :D

1) It was a good thing they moved away from the human in a suit for this movie. And thanks to the new movie being accepted by all, combine a transformers T-Shirt (£9.99) and some Lynx effect (£2.99) and you can’t move for women mugging you. ;) :D

2) The original transformers characters were based on toys produced in the 70s. They fit the cartoon/comic character to the moulds already being made. Which is why the looked like they did.

3) Megatron the all conquering evil maniacal being, turning into a gun is silly. It means he would be reliant on others to pick him up which goes against what he stands for. Jet = perfect for transversing the stars and conquering the universe. As a gun in the 80s in the cartoons it worked (as he flew in robot form to get anywhere) + the mould was already about.

4) I have the cartoons and the film and I still love watching them, they are cheesy, fun but would not work as the live action imo but for what they were they were great.

5) I used to have a collection worth ££££s but sold up and I only have a few bits now. The old toys compared to the new movie ones really do seem dated though. My pride and what I miss the most was a MISB devastator gift set.

6) This movie is a definite love or hate affair, but from what I have seen the majority who don’t like it were big fans of the old stuff or don’t like Michael Bay films.

7) The new animated series for 2008 looks pretty good now it’s up and the toys look stunning. They are doing much more in the classics line and they are also re releasing some of the G1 reissues like megatron, optimus, soundwave etc for the fans so 2008 really will provide something for everyone.

i thought the animation and fighting was excellent and they explained how they were able to adapt their shapes etc with the power they had and the power of the allspark which could create robots.

the only cheesy bits were the garden scene, the sector 7 bits, bumblebees radio station changing for romance and the peeing on the bad guy bit but even they had me laughing and not cringing so it was a great film. really enjoyable to watch and that was the ideal tonic for a day at work...

take brain out, watch a film about robots fighting to the death, see some cool vehicles and hot women, and then come home smiling.

mission accomplished mr bay. :)

yes the plot had holes in it.... but i think it worked well.

Saw transformers last night and overall i really enjoyed it. There were definately some cringeworthy parts but they were soon forgotten about during the last 40mins or so of the film. You cant deny the amazing cgi and action scenes this film produced. No wonder it took so long to make.

I though that megatron never changed into anything in the film? Thats why he looked so different to the others because he was in his 'base' form as it were. Wasnt starscream the jet plane?

 i never knew about this, but i cannot wait till it comes out! Do you have any info about it? Is it continuing from the film?

He changed into a Cybertronian Jet in the movie which is what I was refering to :p . Infact megatron has had a Jet or tank mode in the cartoons like RID, Armada, Energon, Cybertron. The last time he was a gun as megatron was 1986 (bar comics)

I saw the movie last night. Loved it!

I did like the little touches like the text on Barricade (police car) was "...to punish and enslave..." rather than "...to serve and protect...".

Its also wide open for a sequel too... bring on Shockwave :D

I quite liked it but I couldn't help but think there were too many people, not enough transformers. Some nice humorous moments though.

It was never going to surpass the first movie. :o

However, it did demonstrate how cool a Mechwarrior/Battletech movie would be.

went to see this last night and utterly hated it. Sure the fx were great but the film sucked big time. Goes straight into my top 10 worst movies I ever made the mistake of paying to watch list.

What else is in that list?

If you say Harry Potter I, II, III, and IV then you are forgiven ;)

10 - Waterworld. So we're far enough into the future for Kevin Costner
to have evolved gills yet people are still going round on jet-skis.
(where are they getting the fuel from anyway?)
9 - Transformers
8 - Speed 2 - was never gonna work on an ocean liner
7 - The Cell - even J'Lo in kinky outfits wasn't enough
6 - Blues Brothers - walked out less than half way through - can't
remember why.
5 - Candyman - mentally scarred me for life.
4 - Batman & Robin - destroyed the series.
3 - Streetfighter the movie - Van Damme and Kylie in the same film,
nuff said.
2 - My Dog Skip - Utterly, totally wrist-slashingly depressing
1 - Dude, where's my car - my mind boggled as to how they ever got the
funding for a movie based entirely on one the words "Dude" and "sweet"

[seriously, I wouldn't go near a mirror for weeks after and still refuse to watch horror movies now.

Did you actually watch the film? The world is covered in water. No one knows of any land, how are they going to get the materials to make anything other than what already exists? Oh and the fuel they got from the huge oil frigate they were travelling around on. Thats why it goes kaboom when costner drops the flare into the hole. Personally i liked waterworld mainly because of the hot blonde :p

or the spare parts then to service the jet-skis as they would have undoubtedly needed after several millenia??
The blonde in transformers was fit as well, still a crap movie :D

to be fair I have put it higher (lower) in the list so I agree it's not as bad as Speed 2. Bear in mind this is only movies I've paid to watch at the flicks and I don't go that often....... I tend to pick and choose quite carefully and the trailer for Transformers looked great. Think it's the disappointment factor that's hardest to swallow right now :D

what car is bumble bee?

the old rusty one.

Absolutely awesome film, but I wasn't expecting it to be any good. Easily better than the Simpson's and any other film released this year.
