In the end I watched it and actually enjoyed the film, a bit.

I liked, the 1st 3 Bay films and Bumblebee. The last 2 bay films and rise of the beasts, not so much.

This lies somewhere inbetween. Bits of it are quite kiddy and slapstick, but then some of the gags and references are very funny. The story doesn't hold any surprises, as it's a prequel, but the CGI is actually quite good.

I've just watched this myself and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, it's a fun couple of hours and not what I fully expected.

Agreed with the above, I'd say this is a strong 6 to a weak 7 out of 10.

I wouldnt judge it by just that. I thought the same thing too until i gave it a chance. Its pretty fun and whacky at times but does find its way to fit into the transformers original story arc.
