Transformers: The Last Knight

Michael Bay has announced this will be his last Transformers film... again. At least there's something positive to come from this film, assuming he doesn't do a U turn.. again.

I would hope for someone with more talent than just being able to throw CGI at the screen to make a decent Transformers film, but that's probably no more than a fool's hope. I imagine the studios that finance these films will just find someone else to carry on from where Bay has left off. :(

Looks like they have some Tie Bombers flying around @ 1:53.

I'm guessing this is yet another movie with a few robots you recognise and a ton of generic silver\grey robots fart assing about making fight scenes confusing when you see what appears to be the same robot being destroyed over and over.

The first film was passable and I can watch it when I fancy turning my brain off.

But after that they are really truly terrible. The second one is perhaps the worst film I've ever seen.

I can't think Wahlberg or Hopkins seriously think this movie will be good. They must have been paid a **** tonne of money.

Well they bring in tons of money regardless so i doubt they care too much, all about the payday!

None of them are as dire as the G1 cartoon movie though.

It obviously hits the target audience given the box office takings. Plus it has kept the brand and toys alive which had all but died off prior to the 2007 movie.

Well after seeing it tonight, I have been proven wrong; this is as dire as the G1 cartoon movie. It actually felt like a bad episode from season 2 where the cuts and plots were all over the place.

Feels like way to much was cut out to take 30mins off the run time. So many scenes and time jumps with missing continuity.

The language (swearing) and violence was quite full on too. Certainly wouldn't take an under 11 to see it.

I have enjoyed the other movies but this really didn't hit the mark as much for me. Notwithstanding, it was worth the ticket price and I wasn't bored.

Watched this last night. The first movie was awesome, but since then, each one has gone progressively downhill. Seriously, if they want to do it right, just copy/paste the 80's movie.

I saw it in 4DX, which was kinda cool. I was surprised how much the seats move but some of the effects did break the immersion for me.

  • Why has every other transformer adopted a gangster personality and the other half been turned into bumbling idiots?
  • Why were the Dinobots again used so sparingly? Even my 8 year old self knows that if you're going into your 'finest hour' battle, you take the Dinobots with you!
  • I'm no NASA employee, but I'm pretty certain if an object the size of a planet (Cybertron) destroys the moon and then crashes into the Earth, all kinds of weird stuff is gonna happen (hello mavity).
  • Why did Optimus have to tell the audience his name about 5 times throughout the film. 'I'm Optimus Prime'.
  • Unicron is the Earth/inside the Earth? WTF (although it seems we will see him next movie). Just winds me up that they have an awesome storyline for Unicron already available to them, just use it.
  • Was the kid really needed?
  • ARRRGHHHH.

saw it last night... i am a huge transformers fan and have discounted all 5 movies as a take on the franchise an nothing more..

as a film i enjoyed it... glad they made more of a story to it and gave the whole ethos a back story (even if it doesn't follow the cartoon back story)

just got my fingers crossed now bay is stepping down and they left this movie open with a 100% definite sequel someone else will direct and do this franchise justice. Bay really does like a slow mo / explosion shot personally i am not a fan as it slows the film down to much..

They should do a reboot set in the 80s with the robots looking just like the classic toys and an over the top synthwave soundtrack.

Why not watch the remastered blue ray of the movie? It is such an improvement:D

P.s. I do actually love the original movie but it is still dire though, just rose tinted nostalgia specs. I still watch it in my gym sometimes.

Apparently there's a bumblebee spin off coming set in the 80's...Its got to the point where the story in these movies really doesn't make any sense. In the first one earth was an unknown planet then subsequently it turns out that they've visited here more than a Frenchman living next door to a brothel as well as owning their creation to earth.

One of the trailers for last knight says something like "watch them roll out for the last time"..even though this is Hot Rod's first movie. So it would seem a reboot will be up next more than likely.

Better than I expected it to be, it was still half an hour too long. Still too much focus on superfluous human characters (I still don't see what purpose the little blue robot and the little girl added to the plot at all) and I still despise their take on the franchise that largely consists of throwing the names of G1 characters at random things (not mah unicron) but those magic 25 minutes or so when the plot ceases to matter, the robots actually get some screen time and **** gets real were largely worth it.

Sempt to make use of the Imax cameras, looked and sounded awesome. Better than the last one, enjoyed it even with the long run time. Felt the same regarding the girl and little robot. The whole your ugly and small no one will notice you line stuck out to me, that's not a good example to be setting to kids who go watch it.

It's the typical formula as the others, take brain out and enjoy explosions with some cheesy one liners.

Left it setup for the next one with the scene at the end of the flashy credits before it fades to black.
