Travelling to Hong Kong

Around 9-10pm

Some stores don't open until 11am, bakery and food places open insane early hours like 6am.

And no Sunday trading laws! Everything open on Sundays.

Not too bad, open a bit longer than the shops here lol. Sunday seems a bonus lol.

I wish it was august already, the wait is annoying, but it's something to look forward to I guess!

Breakfast, Intercontinental Hotel ?

We thought about going there for afternoon tea for the view, £25-30 for tea and cake per person I think it was.

Dinner, Aqua.

First pic is Lan Kwai Fong , not difficult to guess as you can see the road sign there :D

HK is a great place, you'll enjoy it. Not much I can add, been covered pretty well in this thread so far by others :)

If you want to use Data whilst there get a Smartone SIM card and buy data - 4G coverage everywhere (including underground on the trains :))

3 network provides cover there too for free (same as if you are in the UK).

i've just recently booked a holiday to Thailand and I managed to get costs down purely by using Trivago for the hotels, travelsupermarket for the flights - and then trip adviser to ensure low costs, but also recommended hotels! Managed to cut the whole trip down by £200-£300!

ok, so lets try guess the location :D

Party here.

Some of you guessed correctly :D

Party - Lan Kwai Fong! awesome place for a night out. how it can be so busy, so chilled and so diverse blows my mind.

Breakfast - Yup, the Intercontinental :D

Dinner - Dont think anyone guessed correctly unless Aqua is the name of the restaurant at the top of the Sheraton hotel. Great steak! great views. go at 8pm for dinner to watch the laser display over the bay.

Wow, intercontinental hotel is expensive o.O then again for that view it would be lol.

Is it August yet? :(

Hopefully this year fly's by for you, but then slows down for the holiday lol.

Not sure if you've already said, but how long are you planning on going for?

A few photo's from me. This probably doesn't help your eagerness to get there. :p

The longest indoor escalator i think. Feels like you're on the damned thing forever. Standing at the top when coming down is probably the only time I've ever felt Vertigo.

Definitely go 7! When I went the first time we were there for 4 nights before flying onto Kota Kinabalu. Apparently this is "more than enough time" according to a lot of people I spoke to. Over 21 days later of staying and I still feel like there is more to be seen and done.

They were taken on my Samsung NX100. It's not on par with a DSLR but the sensor alone made it a big step up from my Canon compact. I got it for less than half price which made it even more of a bargain at the time. :)

I hope I can do 7 :p. Yeah a lot of people have been saying 4-5 days is enough, that's why I'm opting for 6-7 just to be realistic :P.

Those are some good quality shots mate, I'm looking to buy a camera and I was thinking of getting a canon 650D but tbh I think I'd be better off with something more compact. Thinking of getting the Sony ILC-E3000.

Is it August yet? :(

I am going in April for 11 days if it helps? :p

That building on the left with I Heart HK, there is an observation deck you can go up, its's call Sky 100. The tallest building in HK.

This is the view(s) from there. (pardon the old horrid watermark!)

Raymond why are you doing this, damn you :D Those are some truly stunning pictures mate. What camera setup did you use for those pictures? Bet it cost an arm and a leg! Got Sky100 on my spreadsheet as one of the places to visit :p

I normally take my 5Diii and my 35L, but the first one taken from Victoria peak was with a 5Diii with a 45mm TSE.

I wouldn't worry about the camera, my brother in law uses a Fuji X100 and he has one similar printed on his wall on canvas and it looks great.

I'm just a bit torn about whether to go for something like the Sony ILC-E3000 or put the extra money in for a 650D for example.

Room for one more? I'm dying to go back. :D

PS how did you get such little reflection (or none at all) in your SKY100 shot? I took my camera up there and due to the lighting I decided not to bother.
