Travelling to Hong Kong

I think at least one of the BA flights to HK now uses an a380 if you want that "experience".

Heh, I'll be booking flights sometime this week, most probably the weekend coming. I'm finding a lot of fluctuation in price, this morning I checked Skyscanner and the cheapest for a direct flight was £940 with Cathay. I've just checked again and the same flight is now £856 :S

Literally just got off that flight today. Ba a380 flight ba0025. Still prefer Cathay.

Cathay is cheaper aswell, I think it's a no brainer will probably go with them. Prices seem to be fluctuating a lot though, changing between £850-950 over the past few days.

Finally some progress, flights will be booked today. Opted for Cathay in the end, £910 is the best I could get for a direct flight.

I can finally say it's "official" - flights been booked with Cathay Pacific. Now to decide on a hotel, at the moment Langham Place seems the top choice.

Langham Place is amazing, it is attached to one of the best shopping mall in HK!

One of the reasons I like that hotel tbh, the mall looks amazing. Plus it looks like the hotel is located in a nice location nut too far from the mtr which is great!

Will be re- reading this whole thread again tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help Raymond (and everyone else)

The countdown has officially begun!

I'm planning on going next year for Chinese New Year (Feb 19th), which also ties in with the February half term. Due to my daughter's nut allergy I can only go with Virgin or BA - Virgin are roughly £670pp but BA does not appear to have released their HK-UK economy fares yet (unless the £1000 price for the return leg is economy!). Do you think that prices might get cheaper or I should just book it now?

*sorry to hijack the thread.

£670 for Chinese New Year is average, i've seen it as high as £800 for direct.

Cheap would be £550 ish, £500 if you are really lucky, but i've never seen it that low.

My Mum's flight over for our wedding (direct with BA, LHR-HKG) was £590, and that was over this year's CNY - though she came over for 3 weeks in total, so probably avoided some of the very peak times. Booked that in December, about a month before flying. I'd say £670 seems reasonable at that time of year, depending on how close to peak travel dates you'll be going.

I ended up paying £910 for a direct return via Cathay from Heathrow, but then again I'm going in August so I think it's more expensive at that time.

So lucky mate lol, do you mind taking a few pictures so that I can drool a bit before August? :p

I've started a thread in the photography section for my piccies so check it out there, or just find me on Facebook, I am endlessly posting photos on there too. :)
