Treadmills, who has one?

The restylefitness website looks good, really silly question but I gather the treadmills will come flat packed for self assembly?

I've got a BH Fitness F5. Cost me £1400 2-3 years ago.

It came disassembled, meaning, the bottom part on its own, the 'legs' and then the arms and LCD part as one piece as well. But it was easy to do as you just need to connect the wiring through the legs so the LCD lights up and then it's just push it till it snaps in place with 2 pins kind of.

I found it good, but I don't use it much (just for 5-10 mins a day) as I prefer to walk outside instead of staring at a wall (sadly no TV in the room). Also, I always almost trip on it. I'm just not used to moving carpets... the road has better grip :p

We have a lifefitness T3 that's utterly bulletproof, although is on its annual summer rest period as we are outside :)

My wife recently bought this one....

Lifetime warranty on the motor and frame. We spent a lot of time in the store with the intention of buying a more expensive one. We were advised that the ones with all the gadgets, ifitness etc, you are paying for those features at the expense of frame quality and cushioning.

As cushioning and build quality was most important to us, they steered us away from all the ones more expensive and with 'run around london maps etc'.

i would say that is BS, you are paying more for the features but not at the expense of frame quality and cushioning.

sure if you have 2 treadmills by the same manufacturer at the same price and one has "ifitness" and the other doesn't then yeah the one without should be better.

but the more expensive treadmill you buy, the better it should be and the more features it should have built in as standard e.g. the more expensive ones have better motors and better frames and cushioning as well as ifitness, etc.

for example that has ifitness, do you really believe it isn't as good as yours, even though the motor is much more powerful and has many more features, like decline as well as incline, it's also faster, etc, etc.

maybe because you were on a "budget" they steered you towards the best one for your money, but to say it is better than all the rest because all the money was focused on the treadmill itself is wrong.

e.g. a £2000 treadmill may have had £200 spent towards the extra features, but that still means over £1500 was spent on the treadmill itself, which means it should be better than say a £900 treadmill with very little features.

Well obviously a 2 grand one with ifit or whatever is going to be better. We went in with a £1500 budget and was looking at a nordic track for about £1500 at the time. We were steered away from everything above the one we had because it had a worse frame and cushioning for the price because it had gadgets we didn't need.

I thought it would be pretty obvious I didnt mean a £899 treadmill would be better than every other tread mill ever built.

well

" We were advised that the ones with all the gadgets"

the ones with ALL the gadgets tend to be the higher models which are more expensive.

for me the most important thing about a treadmill is the brand then the motor, it should be a minimum of 2.5HP imo, but the higher the better, it should also be made by a well respected manufacturer, well respected =/= well known, a lot of people get that mixed up.

for example maximuscle are a well known supplement manufacturer, but they tend to sell overpriced crap.

if it's made by a respected manufacturer then it's obviously going to be built well, and the better the motor then the better the build quality will be as the better the motor the better the model will be and the better models are built better.

as with everything you tend to get better build quality the more you pay.

i'm pretty sure with your budget you could have found a 3HP treadmill easily enough, which may have came with extra gadgets but that doesnt mean the build quality would have been worse than that of a 2.5HP treadmill.

it seems like they steered you towards the bang for your buck option rather than the best treadmill for £1500.

or steered to the best deal for the shop because the profit margin could be more for the £899 model.
NordicTrack are well respected and I doubt an £899 treadmill is better than a £1500 one because manufacturers tend to look at the competition and price accordingly.
Either way for £899 you should have something very decent that will last a while.

This is a good site for Treadmill tests & reviews - http://www.treadmill-running-machine-review.co.uk/compare_treadmills.html

Can I ask a favour?

Do you have more pictures of your gym, particularly the shed and its size etc...I'm thinking of doing something similar and looking for advice.

Thanks.
