Treating my CPU right

I am about to purchase the E8500 and I am considering replacing the stock heatsink/fan with a Noctua. I am, however, a little concerned about damaging it when removing/applying thermal paste. I wont be overclocking so
1) Is it worth it? (Is the stock fan loud?)
2) What's the best way to handle the CPU if I'm removing the paste, place it in mobo first and clamp it there while I work on it?

If you dont ever intend to overclock (though it'd be a shame not to) the stock cooler will do fine with the thermal paste that's preapplied to it.

personallyi never go stock cooler as the fans arent as good louder an if you have a way of seeing it not as nice looking

I found the stock cooler with my E6600 to be almost silent, and definately quieter than the other case fans. The stock cooler will be fine for basic CPU use. I would only get an aftermarket cooler if its either too loud, or too hot (Overclocking). I bought a Tuniq as theres no way I could get an extra ghz out of my processr with the stock cooler.

If not overclocking the stock cooler should be absolutely fine. The one I have on my Q9650 is near silent as is the one on my dad's E2200.

If you are going to remove the thermal pad thats on the heatsink then you wont have to worry abuot damaging the CPU? Just get the heatsink at the same time and clean the pad off it before putting it anywhere near the CPU. I use the Arctic cleaning kit which is simple and works really well:

Theyre perfectly safe up to 70-75c when stress testing, your not likely to hit temps that high in normal usage.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. I might just go with the stock setup...I'd feel uneasy handling the CPU too much when attempting to remove the pre-applied thermal paste. (I know it's probably an illusory fear).

I have no fan on my CPU heatsink at all, naughty but I prefer it to be quiet...

If it does go, it's a good excuse to pick up an E5200.

and sorry for the bad english im blaming it on the new keyboard i got its smaller and the keys are smaller because of ti the space is nly about 2 inches wide
