Tree v Car

Regarding that Audi, that's usually what happens when you hit any car at it's weakest point, unfortunately. Similar to that Porsche, the rear of the car just isn't designed to take an impact like that - not much could save you, even a cage.

Mick

I seem to remember reading about that one a while back. Wasn't it brand new and being driven by the owners brother in law or something? Can't remember properly but I swear there was something even more unfortunate about the circumstances.

Pretty sure he walked away from that one, it looks like he hit it in the perfect spot, if you can call it that.

That GT3 is rather unfortunate. At least he didn't see the tree..

I'm sure I remember seeing that the Audi one was a staged accident scene as part of some kind of exercise.

Darryns crash could have been like this seeing as his car his a telegraph pole that had been chopped down to about 2/3ft. He hit that very hard, and a few of us were there to see that first hand. I'd have to speculate that this accident happened at quite a bit over 60mph, but very sad indeed :(

It's hard to make out what way the car hit the tree. If the emergency vehicles are facing in the road direction (LHD so I'd assume so) then how is the rear end so wrecked? It looks like it could have gone in backwards then spun round the tree? I can only imagine jumping into a blender being kinder than that

Without any kind of motorsport roll cage...a tree is the last thing you wanna hit.....

Is that a GT3 or a GT3 RS? If it is an RS, don't they come with a roll cage?

I was looking at the pic and couldn't work out if I can see a cage or just pillars of the mangled car.

Horrible images either way, poor sods :(

Car vs Nature = Nature wins hands down.

Quick! Lower the speed limit!!!!

Ohh it's not England.. they'll just put it down to driver error and not tamper with their perfectly working road network :)
I love comments like this. Germany is just as bad(?) as the UK for that kind of thing - even plenty of autobahns have silly restrictions on them despite what you might have read.

I lived there for 5 years.

its an GT3 RS and also looking at the pics it did come with a cage, you can see one of the poles through the rear window, remember though its only a rear cage, not a full one so really its only benefit is to stiffen the chassis and maybe help if you flip the car, its not designed to take on natures lamposts
