1200w Plat worked fine for me with 3x290 @1250/1625 and a [email protected] fwiw.
I'd imagine there'd be trouble if trying to go for 5Ghz etc.

I've just kitted out my rig with 6 Noctua Industrial fans (4x120MM @3000rpm and 2x140Mm @3000rpm) with enough static pressure to hit the moon in preparation of tri fire. I come prepared. Oh and noise ain't a problem, cos i won't hear it while i have the G930 pinned to my lug holes.

Wearing a g930 is like being deaf. You could be using windmill's at 3000rpm for fans and not hear anything. Unfortunately my charge port pact in and it's now useless.

Sadly the poor 3970X was not up to running 4 x 290Xs so at the moment it is in my desk draw doing nothing.
Lovely headset. Blocks out all female noises, distractions and fan noises too. Oh yeah and because it's wireless you can even wander off and take a dump and ensure everyone on teamspeak is there with you in the moment.

I have 1 card and it is starting to drive me nuts in the summer months. Even youtube can sometimes up the fan speed to "loud" status -.-
In uncapped games or games that push the card the noise is pretty annoying. I've been looking at coolers but them seem a a wee bit expensive?

You just have to nurture a reference card. I have two running in crossfire and honestly they rarely get much over 50% fan speed in games.
