Regular is none I would leave it at medium. It's there for a reason!

Also take phase control off extreme and set to optimised

I was planning to use it of course, but because of the over voltage i haven't been able to yet. I was thinking once i hit 4.6ghz+ I'll have to start using it.

I think that extreme option is greyed out for some reason, ill have another look though.

Set your Vcore Mos volt to 7v :)

Also, are you actually getting 4.6Ghz when in windows?

As this was one of the bugs using a IVY-E optimised bios with a SB-E chip

Extreme should be greyed out

Ok i figured out what was greying out extreme. Set the cpu current to 120% or lower, i can alter the cpu phase. I will probs put it back to extreme and keep it on 130%. It makes no difference to the voltage, see cpu-z below. Offset 0 4.6ghz. Voltage 1.4v under load, too high imo.

I think I am scotty yes.

Ok scotty will try that cheers.

You shouldn't need anymore current than when on optimised for 4.5-6. Extreme keeps all phases active even when the cpu is idle. You only need extreme when you're lashing it.

No point pishing about with offset otherwise :p

Legend!

I've got the vload down to 1.36v now at 4.6ghz. Not sure i can lower it any further now without using negative offset.

What's the max safe voltage for these 6 cores?

Fair enough, i do like my power saving features. I will revist this then for my 24/7 clocks.

Cheers Scotty i was about right then. :D

I remember breaching those limits on my 2700k without issue mind, so for benching runs ill be letting rip. I reckon i'll be settling on 4.5ghz for 24/7, maybe 4.6. Seems i can do 4.5Ghz at -0.050v but 4.6 needs quite a bump form that.

Scotty i just got this. Was testing 4.7ghz and noticed it dropping to 4.2ghz in cpu-z. What would you recommend? Bios update to the latest revision?

Not a lot you can do, it's one of the reasons a lot of peeps use the 4206 bios.

You have 2 bios's on your board, press the bios button to switch and see which bios is on that.

If you can't get 4206 loaded, you can try this

Well that sucks. I will try and find that bios then see if i can flash it. Where is this bios switch?

Scotty is it that red button? I pressed it and it's still on the first bios as far as i can tell. Is there some special trick to using it?
