Tri-Fire AMD Brethren

Hi Matt. I have the same CPU as you, and the same cooler.

I've had mine at 4.9ghz just into Windows, 1.4v. 4.8ghz bench stable but not fully game stable and 24/7 4.7ghz @ 1.37v with temps (during that really hot fortnight) at 12c below max. You could probably shave 10c off that now.

The X are binned higher and need less voltage from what I have seen since owning mine.

I thought theese were pretty cool chips? Moreso than ivybridge and haswell, heat with theese under certain programs can be insane. Ie p95, mid-high 90's is pretty much the norm at stock.

They are compared to Haswell but you have to remember there are six quite large cores in there.

Mine stays mid to high 50s until I load up something like Asus Realbench, once them six cores start stressing temps soar.

Keep doing the good work Matt, after you finish everything, I will just copy n' paste :)

Haha, no worries man. I love doing this. Will spend most of the day fine tuning. Memory is almost sorted, but i reckon i tighten things even further. Not sure it would be possible if i didn't have these Dom Plats though. I see now why they're £250-£300 for 16gb.

Andy don't know if you saw my post earlier, but the VID on my chip is really high. Not sure what my max overclock will be, but i will let you know. I like to keep cpu temps at 70c or under ideally for 24.7, but for benchmarking i don't mind 85c or lower.

@Rusty - Yes it is, hence my firestrike post. However i was getting the help of Gee, Scotty, Frosty etc as they know this board/mem/cpu pretty well. Think im over the worst of my troubles now though so all good.

I'm not sure I've got a thousands words in me if im honest. I did trust Thundy laughing about it, while asking what i had to do to get it changed back though. I was about to offer bribes. :D

Go easy on the timings for the memory tighter does not always mean faster, it can mean slower with more errors.

Run something like the Physics test in 3dmark11 before you make each change and retest afterwards to see the difference in performance.

You may find 9-11-11-25 works better than 9-11-11-21 for example.

Duly noted Kaap and i will test that, cheers. :)

Those Prime settings I sent over to you are good for testing memory stability but check bandwidth differences.

This is an old screeny from my previous kit, don't think this was final as SR is high but quite good throughput there.

Should ask if you could keep the avatar pic! Jen-Hsun's pose was so enthusiastic you couldn't help but smile when you saw it and then read a post discussing things AMD.
