Trine - a physics-oriented, side-scrolling action/platformer

Help me get off the fence on this one guys.

There's gameplay aplenty - it gets more involved as the game becomes more tricky and you learn more skills. Trine is the kind of game I think of as gameplay heavy (the polar oppsoite to something like Assassin's Creed) and is one of the most enjoyable games i've played this gen. If you're prepared to experiment there's plenty to have fun with here.

I'll be double dipping to play with mates on PSN and really hope there's a sequel.

Good, so long as there's more levels and it maintains the gameplay it shows off in the demo I'm sold.

Hell, its only £20, may as well buy it when you think it's the cost of a taxi home from a night out.

Cheers for the rapid reply.

GRRRRR **** ****** S***** GRRRNNNGGGHHHHHH!!!

Massively, unbelievably, incredidbly frustrating last mission. I think I'm on my 15th or so attempt. Given up for now.

Whoever designed that should be shot.

I did the same thing just now on the level with the lava and have to race to the top.

Did it eventually :)

For those interested, it took me just under 10 hours to complete, and I did my best to get every single pot/secret (I got all but 2 secrets, and missed 1-2 pots per level).

Really enjoyed it too - absolutely loving the art/graphics. £20 well spent, as I'm going to go back and try and find some of the pots I missed.

Completed on Medium too, so I might give myself a challenge and try it on "very hard".

People who own it, how much gameplay is there? Loved the demo and really want it but I don't know if it will be worth £20.

I'm just over 10 hours / at level 11 (out of 15) with pretty much all of the secrets/achievements up to that point.

However, if you just ran through it, you'd finish it rather quickly. Some people have been saying you can finish it in about 4 hours.

If you like ferreting out hidden areas though, and you really liked the demo, it's well worth it. Gets a very big thumbs up from me.

Really really good game. Some may say it's a bit short, but I think it's around long enough without outstaying it's welcome and it could get very tedious if it was about 15+ hours long. Apparantly they are releasing a patch for the last level to make it slightly easier. Shame their's no net multiplayer, would have been great to have that some kinda basic level designer so you could share levels with your mates and do them on co-op.

Finally finished the last level ;-)

Took me 6.5 hours to complete, loved every moment. Just over 6 hours is a bit short for £19.99 but as I got shadowgrounds too its not bad and if it had taken any longer I would have gotten bored.

Will definitely play again though most likely on my laptop as it seem to be a game you could quite easily do one level a night if you wanted.

I'm so impressed with this game so far - I'm playing it thouroughly, trying to get every item.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's patch that adds native 1366x768 res in the launcher, so I don't have to manually edit the config for my laptop :)

Yeah, it is a tad short if you just go straight through it, but there's quite a bit of replayablility finding all the secrets/xp/etc.

Don't know if you've played Shadowgrounds yet, but do give it a chance. A great little game there.

AAAAAAAAAARGH!

Not only did the patch not include my native res, but it also broke my save game :'(

Back to the beginning for me!

Completed in around 5-6 hours, got a couple of treasure achievements.

Very short for £20, not really satisfied.

Thief was probably my favourite, swinging kicks to the face was my preferred kill method.

Wizard gets a bit daft with the +plank and +boxes items, something like 16 boxes possible with all the items, makes it a bit too easy.

Just played teh demo of this, really enjoyable, feels rather polished.
Reminds me a bit of the medievil games on playstation.

Think Ima nab this when its on offer, not paying £20 for 5 hours xD

Just finished this game (I've been playing on and off for a while), and it has easily been one of the best games I've played in a while.

The end level is tough as nails though, took me about 8 tries to complete it :p

I was hoping the ending would set up a sequel, as the engine suits the game perfectly :)

On the last level, it's a killer but i will make it!

Theif for general movement/light combat/nice legs

Knight for heavy combat when things get hairy/tough

Wizard for building ways to get across.

For those who don't like using Steam for whatever reason, a certain well known high-street retailer has it available for pre-order on their website for £17.99 inc delivery.

So it's actually cheaper than Steam? I can't understand why a digital download is more expensive than a box from an online retailer.
