Trip to ISS/Orbit, would you do it?

Give me 250k and I'll buy a ticket. I didn't say it was possible this second. It is possible however. and everything you said was clearly wrong. So point stands. Read the bit where Russia wants to open it up again?

I would in a heartbeat. The chance to experience microgravity, look down upon the Earth from above, and see one of the greatest technological marvels of our time, I wouldn't turn that down for anything.

Yes I read it but as I said it isn't possible now even with money, maybe stop posting on OCUK all day and do something productive and maybe just maybe some day you'll have enough to go ;)

He's a Man Of Honour. He gets paid £10 per post. Didn't you know that ? ;)

I don't know maybe just maybe I've been on nights all week. and I will go if I'm still alive in 15-20 years, by then prices should have fallen to prices maybe 2 or 3 holidays combined.

Perhaps you should talk more sense, rather than rubbish and just admit when you said you need to train for years, you were wrong.

Wouldn't give it a second thought. I've wanted to put myself foward for Mars missions in the past, yet I doubt I'll qualify so I haven't. :D

When commercial trips become available I'll find it very hard not to sell everything I have to get at trip to space.

Just watch mavity in 3D... Job done.. No need to worry yourself over the 1:50 odds of dying.

Just hope someone doesn't come in with a space suit on and a gun :) I would say you don't have to worry because we have up to date laws, but you're in the US so I guess that doesn't apply  :D :p

To answer the question, for that view who wouldn't?

you mean turn down the possibility of going to space based off a slim chance i might die in one of the most reliable spaceships ever made?

hell no! beam me up scotty!

the russians have had a larger number of actual deaths on the soyuz [probably the largest, don't quote me on that], but for a ship design originating from the moon race it hasn't had a bad career, it's the space equivalent of calling for a taxi, or alternatively the ak47 of the rocket world

if i had the choice though send me up in a saturn 5 because:
statistically you cannot die in it, a 100% survival rate historically speaking [ :P ]
3000 tonnes of rocket is a sight, and i'm sure an experience to behold.

Shock horror as technology forum members would go on one off science fiction style space flight.

Me? Dunno maybe id be scared shirtless. I wouldn't pay big money for it though. Freebie, yeah probably.

I found it hard enough talking to that mate that spent 2 years in Laos hanging out with the monks, barefoot bee keeping, totally discovering a better way of life, before taking the job at the accountancy firm his Dad owns..

Imagine the grueling conversations you would have to endure with the "been to space" ***** crowd.

Short answer? With current technology No!

Long...

Have you ever thought about it? Getting shot 18,000mph into the sky, then floating in a can with the feeling of going over a bridge for a week. Then getting slammed back to earth from 18k mph+ to 0 and land in the sea!

No thanks! :(

I will wait awhile. :p
