Its an extremely successful procedure and you can look forward to many happy years with your dad. Be aware that some people can become somewhat depressed after heart surgery, this probably accounts for some people "not being the same" afterwards. If family are aware of this possibility it can easily be overcome.

my granny had one about 8 years ago, never seemed to properly recover, but then we found out she had cancer for years and years which they never caught until it was far too late. so can't say

 

[Russinating]

My grandma had it many many years ago. She still has problems with her legs (that's where they got the spare tissue/veins from) but that's mainly due to her age and the added difficulty that has on recovery. She can walk fine and everything though, they're just bruised really. Also she's on a load of drugs so that probably helps
