HAs anybody else bought this yet?? What an album, takes their older sound and beats it to death with early Metallica/Megadeth and comes up with a truely brilliant sounding cd.

Matt seems to have learnt a lot from the Road Runner United stuff and now sings rather than screams into the mic and the playing by all the band is amazing.

Highly recommened :-)

Steve

I was disappointed to be honest.
It sounds kinda cheesy.
Matt needs to go back to screaming.

On the plus side. Killswitch Engage's new album is pretty good.

Thought it was crap :(

Didn't realise Killswitch had a new album out, I'll check that out.

Edit: And I didn't think it sounded anything like early Megadeth or Metallica, it reminded me more of Testament or Annihilator for some reason.

His voice is one of the things I actually like, compared to the old record.

As for the album though, it's a bit lacking, and overflowing with cheese.

not a fan of this album, original trivium is what they got there name for, and then this?? sometimes it just sounds like a metallica cover band, but as previously mention that new killswitch engage album is awsome!!

I've gone off Trivium massively. Ascendency I liked when it first came out, but the more I listened to it, the more I realised it was pretty hollow. Heafy is a nob too.

i'd rather actually listen to metallica and megadeth than a **** poor tribute act.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Its not even funny how much they sound like Megadeth. The Anthem is probably the most irritating song playing on kerrang at the moment.

How can you say that - "woah oh, woah oh" is the best bit of songwriting I've heard for ages ;)

I haven't heard the album yet but I'm sure I'll like it - does it matter if it does sound like Metallica/Megadeth/Testament (I really hope it does sound like Testament though, top band:D)? Surely there are pretty much NO bands out there that are original? I'm certainly not courting controversy but it does seem people are always quick to jump on the anti-someband bandwagon.

The Crusade is an amazing album, just ordered the album t-shirt for £10 as well!

I wasn't into them because of the n00b shouting vocals before this album, now they've seen sense (even if he is trying to be hetfield).

I always loved the guitar work though!

I thought their earlier stuff was rank, mainly because of the rubbish vocals. Even though this album is overflowing with strong smelling cheese, I actually like it. I'm kinda looking forward to seeing them now in Sheffield on 18th Dec before Maiden.

Yeah,I can hear a large slab of Annihilator in there too, don't reckon the Rythm guitar is up there with Jeff Waters though! But the voice at times sounds just like him!

I quite like what i've heard of the album so far, well listenable I reckon.

How can you compare Trivium with such legends as Annihilator/Testament? :S I'm sorry to sound rude, but they're just one of those bands who made their money from making boring metalcore and now think they can suddenly gain acceptance among people with more 'tr00 metal' credentials (whatever they are!) by stopping the screaming and trying to sound like James Hetfield. Also, I love how they now hate 'screaming' and 'growling' yet their puerile lead singer frequently wears shirts by such luminaries as Darkthrone and Death...

Their level of Metallica-worship is pathetic...

Mastodon are the only metal band worth their salt to have emerged from America in the last five years.

The Crusade is way better than anything Metallica have released since Master of Puppets. IMO
