Good evening.
I am about to die, I spend about 10h of sitting down and trying to upgrade my Seagate barracuda 7200.14 to new firmware which is CC4H.
I have really old one and this is so louad, whole case is shaking. The case is Zalman Z11 plus. To be honest I started to hate this case. I have MSI Z87 G45 motherborad and when I am trying to upgrade new FirmWare the error common :

I spend so much time on it, I wroted so many post's on other forums that are managing with hard-ware and no help at all. I am in really bad mood as this is getting on my nervs. I booted the .iso file with CD no reaction, I booted with pendrive no reaction (the error as on picture), I booted with .exe file that SB supports it comes with some random numbers and it stops.
Please help me as this is brand new PC, I build it about 3 weeks ago and I am getting really bad expresions from spending 850 quid on nothing.

I'm assuming that you have the correct firmware for the Seagate drive.

Before attempting the firmware update again please make sure you have your data backed up in case anything goes wrong.

From the image it appears that the updater is finding a Western Digital drive. Do you have one of those in the system?

Disconnect all other SSDs and HDDs, leaving just the Seagate connected, and try again with the CD.

You may need to have the Seagate drive connected to the primary SATA connector, perhaps it's the one that the Western Digital drive is seemingly connected to.

That firmware isn't for your drive, it only works with ST1000DM003-9YN162

There's no update available for your drive.

This is what it'll tell you

Serial Number: Z1D97MCX Part Number: 1CH162-510
Model Number: ST1000DM003 Family: BARRACUDA 7200.14 FAMILY

Firmware No Newer Firmware Available

How is it not possible?
You said yourself the drive is really old so maybe it's just nearly ready to die?
Buy a new one (bigger) and enjoy the quietness.

Guys this is a brand new HDD. It works only for about 200h and is about 3 weeks when i set it on.
Sory for my bad english in first post but i meant that the FM of HDD is very old. HDD is brand new. The neweest FM is Ch.. my one is something different.

OK,
Have you run your serial number through the seagate checker yet?
If not, do that and it will tell you what firmware there is.

To be honest if the drive is rattling and loud I doubt firmware will fix it.

9 times out of 10 its not the drive that's noisy, rather its the case resonating. Take a look at the bungee mod sticky.

Well. I took zalman z11 case as it was the only good case that i could go for. I did go throught serial number check but it was silly as there was nothing to download. I have two HDD drives WD is at the very bottom and SB is at the highest. In the middle i put SSD as i dont have a SSD holder.
Zalman z11 case is pretty bad as the places for HDD's are only useful when you use their special rubber to put in the HDD. I was thinking about making a bitumbox but it will not fit to the zalman. Terrible case..
I will try with SATA 1 connector when i just find some time. I will post my results later. Thanks

It must be second option :p
Because i do have new FM installed od cd and it must be the right one as many people after updating the FM said that SB works better and quieter. (Ofc. Sane hard drive)

@@@ EDIT

Ehh my HDD is OEM version (shame on me) and this is impossible to update the FM. Thanks for your time guys. Have good day.

OEM shouldn't make a difference, all that means is that it comes without a retail box and the mounting hardware. (and possibly a shorter warranty)

Well on two other (polish) forums I got told that if you have OEM there is no way that you can update the firmware. Well, just get sick by this case but what can u do?
Also I have like very low noise when I am speaking with firned's via team speak or skype and I thought that the resonating is the noise that comes through microphone.
Right now I will wait to get some money and buy my self Xonar DGX for 22 quid. Not expensive but should help.
Thanks for your time.
