Yeah fair enough it's not for everyone either, I have been fortunate not had any issues with it, but the underlying game data is stored in some weird windows store based system which makes modding harder.
More competition is good, and my issue with Epic is more around exclusivity of games than it is on the giveaway front, as exclusivity reduces competition and choice as a consumer. I can see that they are going hard and fast on the exclusives still, at least I don't think they have made any more major blunders with them (like Exodus being pulled from Steam last minute).
As a developer, I could definitely see why they take the Epic money, but even that polarises potential consumers a bit.
Mind you I am a bit older, their strategy would probably work well as they have a lot of gamers coming up from the Fortnight ranks, and those people would not care where they got their games from.
Time will tell I guess, if Fortnight cash dries up can they carry on doing what they are doing, and for how long?
what happens when you stop subscribing to game pass?
You don't agree with what Epic are doing but you agree with subscription-based game access.
I would consider actual exclusivity being my favourite dev deciding their next game release is playstation only because sony threw money at them. I couldn't care less where I buy a PC game from or if it's limited to one store front. If it's too expensive I won't buy it anyway.
